Flames spike the Mighty Reds
Addie Alegre had nine digs and 20 assists to lead Lodi High's varsity volleyball team to a 25-16, 25-20, 20-25, 25-19 victory over visiting Calaveras on Thursday night.
Jessica Malcolm had two blocks and 12 kills, Kaitlin Drake added four kills and three blocks and Macy Boschee recorded two aces and seven digs for the Flames (3-0).

Michelle Ono had seven aces, two kills and two digs for the Flames (2-0) in the 25-18, 23-25, 15-8 victory. Katie Bentz had seven digs and three kills, Kendra Sanguinetti recorded 10 digs and two kills and Hannah Bradford added six assists and seven digs.

Mia Sahli had six aces, eight assists and two digs for the Flames (2-0) in the 27-25, 25-19 victory. Nicole Stone had six kills, five digs and three aces, Kristen Slater recorded eight digs and three aces, Dezeri Barba had 11 digs and two aces and Alexis Barba added five digs and three aces.

Hector Gomez scored two goals and added three assists to lead the Tigers (2-0-1) over visiting Manteca. Rigo Gomez scored twice and Hector Flores, Hardeep Singh and Miguel Segura each had a goal. Nicholas Gonzalez, Christian Ochoa, Ricardo Martin and Edgar Trujillo each had an assist. Dylan Waugh and Mauricio Cortes combined on the shutout, with Waugh recording three saves and Cortes adding two.
Manteca won the frosh-soph contest 4-2.

Clayton Silva, Chiles Wilson and Anthony Galleta had solid games for Elliot (2-3-2) in the home loss to Sac Country Day.

Riley Sexton shot a 1-over 37 to lead the Warriors (1-2 Sierra Valley Conferene) at Forest Lake Golf Course. Demaree Sexton fired a 46, Brittany Hamrick shot a 49, Alex Hohn carded a 51, Amber Garcia shot a 52 and Willie Douglas posted a 55.

SVC Meet
Galt High's Samantha Walling placed second in the varsity girls meet with a time of 21 minutes, 26 seconds at the SVC's first league meet on Wednesday at Willow Hills in Folsom. The Lady Warriors placed fifth in the team standings while Oak Ridge won the race. Galt's varsity boys placed third with Oak Ridge winning to complete the varsity sweep. Matt Freitag had the best finish for Galt (12th, 19:29).

Cheo Tessaro returned the opening kickoff 85 yards for a score and also scored on a 5-yard run and added a two-point conversion for the Flames in their season opener. Tessaro also threw TD passes of 30 yards to Jared Shires and 25 yards to Alex Eaton. Adam Carleton, Josh Wold, Sam Hall, Willie Barrios and Gage Miller had solid games on defense.
Bear Creek 12, Tokay 6
Ahmed Sublaban scored Tokay's only TD on a 30-yard run as the Tigers lost at Bear Creek in their season opener. Jose Mireles, Ahmed Sublaban and Michael Sousa had solid games on defense for the Tigers and Derek Simpson had an interception. Clark Hunter had two catches.
