Patterson promoted to police lieutenant

Tod Patterson was promoted Thursday from Lodi police sergeant to lieutenant, filling one of two such vacancies.

Patterson, 43, has spent 20 years with the Lodi Police Department, after working two years as a Solano County Sheriff's deputy. He will now supervise patrol units, a shift that includes serving as a watch commander.

As the son of retired Officer Lee Patterson — who now works part-time for the department, investigating financial crimes — Tod Patterson grew up around police officers. As a teenager he was a police cadet, even riding along on patrol with Chief David Main, who at the time was a Rio Vista police officer.

When Patterson graduated from Rio Vista High School, he got a football scholarship to New Mexico State University and planned to become a lawyer. After two years, he realized that wasn't quite the career he wanted, Patterson said.

Two decades later, Patterson said he has no regrets about his final career choice.

At a brief badge-pinning ceremony Thursday, he acknowledged the support of his wife, Andrea Patterson, a dispatcher/jailer at the department. Also in attendance were his 11-year-old son, Zac, and 9-year-old daughter, Steffani.

Two lieutenant positions were recently vacated after Virgil Monroe retired and Bryan Noblett went to work for the Elk Grove Police Department. The force of 78 officers is currently at 71.

Fashion insiders to gather at Delta College

The Fashion Program at Delta College is bringing together fashion industry insiders for a two-hour forum open to anyone interested in a career in the fashion industry.

Attendees will have an opportunity to network with some fashion industry experts, who will share their stories, provide inside information on the business and the realities of the careers, dispel some myths about those careers and offer tips and advice for those wanting to pursue a career in fashion.

The event starts at 3 p.m. Oct. 2. Participants will gather in one place to hold an open forum in which to learn about the business. The event is essential for those interested in the business, especially in this economic climate, according to a press release issued by the college.

The line up of presenters includes: Michael Palladino, Fashion Department of LIM College in New York City; Billy Hutchinson, Assistant Manager of Gump's, San Francisco; and Cathy Lagorio, owner of Wish List Boutique in Stockton.

The event is free to the public and will be held in Danner Hall on Delta's campus. For more information, visit the event's Web site at www.deltacollege.edu/div/fcs/MEETTHEFASHIONINDUSTRYINSIDERS.htm.
