Lodi Improvement Committee asking council to decrease its membership
The committee originally formed to take a closer look at improving the Eastside might soon drop from nine to seven members.
The change is mainly procedural, because the Lodi Improvement Committee has had to cancel meetings when there have not been enough members present to provide a quorum, chair Robert Takeuchi said.
Also, the group now meets in Carnegie Forum, so when all nine members are present, it gets crowded on the raised platform and members have to share microphones, he said.
The reduction will happen gradually as committee members resign, fail to complete their terms or choose not to seek reappointment. The committee is already down to eight members after committee member Joe Spinelli resigned in July.
The committee approved the decrease at its July meeting, but the Lodi City Council still has to approve it Wednesday night.
