Armed robbery at Jack in the Box

Monday, August 10, 2009 5:59 AM PDT

Two women robbed three Jack in the Box employees of an undisclosed amount of money at about 3 a.m. Saturday morning, according to Lodi police. Two gunshots were fired, and one employee's vehicle was stolen, police Cpl. Sierra Brucia said.

No one was injured from the gunshots, Brucia said. The gunshots were reportedly intended to frighten the employees, not to harm them, he added.

The women entered the business at 2425 W. Kettleman Lane, but it wasn't known whether they entered the fast-food restaurant at 3 a.m. or if they were hiding since the interior closed for business, Brucia said. Only the drive thru window was open at the time of the robbery.

Police were still searching for the suspects on Sunday, Brucia said. Their faces were covered, so no description was available.

The body of Richard Thomas Beck, 41, of Stockton, was found by the San Joaquin County sheriff's boating safety unit at about 10 a.m. Sunday in the area of Fourteen Mile slough and Bora Bora, according to the sheriff's department.

Deputies responded to a report at 6:30 p.m. Saturday of a man not wearing a life jacket attempting to swim from a boat to a jet ski, according to a sheriff's report. Witnesses said that Beck was seen going under water and never surfacing.

The search was called off due to darkness Saturday night and resumed at 9 a.m. Sunday.
