Top junior golf tournament returning to The Reserve
The Stockton Sports Commission Junior Classic will make its second consecutive appearance on the American Junior Golf Association's schedule Aug. 24-27 at The Reserve at Spanos Park.
The tournament will host the country's top junior golfers, ages 12-18. The Stockton Sports Commission Junior Classic is a 54-hole, stroke play competition. The tournament field consists of 99 junior golfers from six states, Canada, Japan and Mexico.
A portion of the 99-player field will be reserved for players earning entry via the 18-hole K12 Qualifier, which will be held Aug. 24 at the Reserve. K12 Qualifiers give juniors an opportunity to "play their way in" to coinciding AJGA Open tournaments or earn a tournament exemption or performance star for a future event. AJGA alumni have risen to the top of amateur, collegiate and professional golf. More than 200 former AJGA juniors currently play on the PGA and LPGA Tours and have compiled more than 350 wins. AJGA alumni include Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Jim Furyk, Stewart Cink, Davis Love III, Cristie Kerr, Pat Hurst, Paula Creamer, Morgan Pressel and Julieta Granada.
