Obama's medical plan: Let's do something!

Wednesday, July 29, 2009 6:52 AM PDT

In September I'll be 79 years old. If President Obama's medical plan had been in effect, my remaining years would be filled with pain and misery.

According to Obama's medical care plan, there's no need to burden the government's medical program with expensive treatment for seniors who will soon die anyway.

Last month, my MRI ($2,000) showed the spinal problem that was causing excruciating pain. After treatment, I now feel almost no pain, and am beginning to walk with very little support of a walker or cane.

I am afraid of the physical suffering that will be forced upon the American people by President Obama's health care plan, not to mention the financial suffering that will continue with his effort to bankrupt our country.

If this medical care program is so great, why aren't Congress, White House staff, all 39 of those czars and President Obama standing in line to get medical treatment for themselves and their families in this splendid plan? Why are they clinging to their privileged-class health plan while plotting to decrease the medical treatment for the taxpayers who pay the bills?

Many politicians are wavering in support of this costly fiasco, and would welcome your opinion. To leave a message, phone numbers are: Sen. Barbara Boxer, (202) 224-3553; Sen. Dianne Feinstein, (202) 224-3841; and Congressman Jerry McNerney, (202) 225-4060. Also, newspapers welcome your letters: The Lodi News-Sentinel, letters@lodinews.com; Stockton Record, letters@recordnet.com; and the Sacramento Bee, opinion@sacbee.com.

If we don't speak up, it is estimated that under this administration our taxes will increase to 50 percent of our income.

To quote Edmund Burke, "All that is necessary for the forces of evil to take over the world is for enough good men (and women) to do nothing." Let's all do something!

-Outlawing private healthcare and making it almost impossible to compete with the government program are two different things. It is a fact that the government wants complete control over the healthcare industry. You get the facts straight, voter. On the surface it may seem that this government plan
will promise better. But you and I know how well politicians keep their promises. And we know how difficult it is to sue the government when their break their promises. "

A good example of how ridculous this bill is is if this bill does pass it's going to be like trying to keep ice from melting in hell in the event you have to sue the government if they decide they aren't going to pay your hospital bills because they decided you no longer meet their qualifications to get that surgery. That's very nice for the bureaucrats charged with management, but it's going to be hell for everyone else. They say that life is what happens after you make plans; but what they don't tell you is that a plan works better than no plan every time. The question we are asking ourselves today is: Do we want to plan for our own individual lives; or, do we want an entity in DC to do that for us? At the end of the day its all about choice; and it always will be: Moral choices get rewarded, and immoral choices must be paid for. The govt can come in and try to regulate this process, but the sad truth is that the cost of regulation negates any possible benifit. Obama says that he understands the cynicism that we all have for govt; but this time, under his leadership, it's going to be very different. Stop already! Just keep the "marketplace" open and safe; the people can handle the rest. It's not unfair; it's reality. "

" Obama's "health" plan is only part of it. The other part is the implementation of Codex Alimentarius which would outlaw natural health remedies, supplements, and holistic medicine for those who choose to care for their health in this manner.

" All the AMA is interested in is getting a check from the 47 million people who stiff them every time they come in the office. I haven't spoke to a single person in the medical profession, doctor, nurse, or tech, who works in a private hospital or is in private practice, who think it is a good idea. All the OBGYNs are for it because they'll get paid every time an illegal alien pops out an anchor baby. "

" ... and now the AMA is endorsing President Obama's healthcare reform.... oh those stupid, uneducated doctors. "

" AARP became a left wing fund raising tool years ago. The audience for yesterdays q and a was hand picked to be Obama friendly. When you get a solicitation from AARP do what I do. I mail it back blank. That way they have to pay for the postage. Heh heh heh heh. "

" This is one reason I will not suscribe to AARP- they are blindly endosring Mr. Obama and his agenda, jsut because he is a Democrat. AARP members need to have the AARP admistration read the bill, just like our Congressman need to do! Because if they did read it, they would not be endorsing it if they are truly in favor of senior rights. When are the Democrats going to realize that their party is not the same as it was 20 years ago and stop blindly following that leadership? "
