Jose Gonzalez
Bus driver
Jose Jesus Moreno Gonzalez, 80, of Galt, died July 24. He was born on Sept. 28, 1928, in Autlan, Jalisco, Mexico.
Mr. Moreno was a bus driver, boxer and newspaper reporter in Mexico. He worked in agriculture after moving to California. He attended St. Christopher's Catholic Church in Galt. He was an avid metal recycler, and he enjoyed traveling, music and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Beatriz Nunez de Moreno; daughters, Irma Salazar, of Galt, Maria Camacho, of Courtland, and Beatriz Flores, of Galt; sons, Jose Francisco Moreno, of Galt, and Oscar "Pepe" Moreno, of Diamond Springs; brother, Javier Navarro, of Stockton; and 21 grandchildren.
A Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Christopher's Church in Galt, with burial to follow at Galt/Arno Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Lodi Funeral Home, followed by a recitation of the rosary.
Lodi Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
