Galt City Manager Ted Anderson plans to retire at year's end
After 10 years as the city manager in Galt, Ted Anderson will retire at the end of the year.
"I've done what I've promised to do. The city is financially solid, and I got projects done. The city is in much better shape than when I came, and that's all a manager can hope for," Anderson said.
The main reason for his retirement is he wants to spend time with his children and grandchildren.
"I'm too old. It's time to retire. You don't want to work forever," he said.
He promised Mayor Randy Shelton that he would give six months notice before retiring, Anderson said. His last day at work will be Dec. 31, but he will use vacation until his official last day on Jan. 31, 2010.
His main goal for the last months will be ensuring a smooth transition for whomever replaces him.
Anderson's total compensation, including salary and benefits as of Feburary 2008, was $193,044.
Some of the main projects that have been accomplished during his term include the Lincoln Way project, Downtown revitalization, a new police station, redoing the flea market and purchasing three parcels of land to turn into parks.
He is also proud of the work that has been done on the wastewater plant and the C Street interchange project.
