The city of Lodi will still celebrate the Fourth of July with its traditional fireworks show at Lodi Lake, but the show has been scaled back from a 20-minute show to a 15-minute show to save $6,000.

Earlier this year, the Lodi City Council considered 20-minute, 10-minute and 5-minute shows. It also considered canceling the event.

The scaled-back show will still have an opening and grand finale, with 954 fireworks planned. Last year, the community was treated to 1,460 fireworks.

The celebration will begin at 7 a.m. and end with the fireworks finale. The beach area and boat rentals will be available after 10 a.m. The Lodi Boys and Girls Club will have a kids' zone and food and drink for sale in the Rotary area of Lodi Lake.

Turner Road will be closed from Mills Avenue to Ham Lane from 6 a.m. until the police open it after the fireworks display. Permit and handicapped parking will be allowed on the north side of Turner Road adjacent to the park.

Police officers will check visitors' bags and ice chests. Alcohol, glass bottles, bicycles, fish poles and other items will not be allowed into the park.

The city of Galt's annual fireworks spectacular will be held at about 10 p.m. Saturday at Veterans Soccer Field, Caroline and Chabolla avenues. There will also be entertainment by the band, Moments Notice, at 6 p.m. The Galt Festival will also be held adjacent to Veterans Soccer Field.

While Stockton's annual fireworks display has been canceled, the Karl Ross American Legion Post will have an Independence Day parade from 10 a.m. to noon.

The parade will begin at Weber Institute, travel east on Weber Avenue, north on El Dorado Street, west on Fremont Street and south on Center Street.

Tonight the Stockton Ports will have a fireworks display from Banner Island Ballpark after their baseball game against the San Jose Giants. The games begin at 7:05 p.m.
