John Haley hurls no-hitter in Lodi Legion win

John Haley tossed a no-hitter with five strikeouts as the Lodi Legion senior baseball team recently beat Danville 2-0 in tournament play at Delta College.

Zach Costa had a double and RBI for Lodi, Tyler Stieb and Shane Chavez each singled and Ryan Pudwell had an RBI.

Lodi 14-U All-Stars


Lodi captured the Brentwood Tournament this past weekend, winning the championship game 11-7.

Lodi was led by pitching of Grant Hennecky, Will Lydon and Robby Peckham. Rounding out the team is Kyle Rivers, Tyler White, Taylor Morgan, Tyler Porterfield, Edwin Pacheco, Austin Merrill, Anthony Sorbera, Gino Comporato, Kevin Moorman, Ben Brumm and Jeremy Shuman.

The team will compete in the state qualifier this Sunday in Modesto.

The team is preparing for the State Qualifying Tournament in Modesto beginning this Sunday.

Captain Weber Tournament


Woodbridge's Abbie Mulbarger won the girls 10-and under-age bracket at the 48th Annual Captain Weber Days Junior Open Tennis Tournament this past weekend in Stockton.

Lodi Crush


The Lodi Crush went 2-0-1 at the RR Gold/Grapettes American Stimulus Friendly on Sunday at the Lodi Complex.

Alyx Alvarez led the Crush with a double, three singles and six RBIs. Tori Mickelson, Nikki Luiz and Avery Anderson each had three hits, Kelsey McCarty, Katie Bentz and Luci Martinez each had two and Taylor Sousa and Brittany Sweeten each had a single.

Mickelson earned the victory in a 2-0 win over the Grapettes and Gina Luiz got the victory in a 4-2 win over the Bears. Avery Anderson had nine strikeouts in Lodi's tie with the Elk Grove Thunder.

Golf
Lodi Sirs


The Lodi team of Al Clark, John Gail, Bob Gorbet and Phil Schrock took first place in the first flight at the State 4-Man Scramble Tournament last Friday at Van Buskirk Golf Course in Stockton.

The team advanced to the finals, which will be held at Poppy Ridge in August. Also going is the Lodi team of Frank Daniels, Norm McNally, Tony Canton and Ray Honey, which placed first in the second flight at Van Buskirk.

Hole-in-one

Lodi's Casey Halligan recently recorded a hole-in-one at Forest Lake Golf Course. Halligan aced the 150-yard 11th hole. Witnesses included Jack Halligan, Conita Thomas, Joey Thomas and Tommy Thomas.
