Free concert tonight
Pack a picnic dinner and lawn blanket, because the Air National Guard Rock Band will be giving a free concert at Hutchins Street Square tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. The concert is part of the band's tour they are doing before being deployed this weekend to the Middle East, where they will perform for troops.
Band members Beth Sanders and Joey Miller are both from Lodi. Sanders has been a band teacher at Houston School in the Lodi Unified School District for 23 years, and Miller, 30, was one of Sanders' students.
The Air National Guard Rock Band is a nine-member band that performs "a little bit of everything," Sanders said, including rock, R&B and today's favorites. They cover songs by Gretchen Wilson, Tower of Power, Carrie Underwood, Christina Aguilera and more.
The concert by the Air National Guard Rock Band is free to everyone and will be held at West Park at Hutchins Street Square, 125 S. Hutchins Street.

I'm twice-degreed and a registered Republican with some managerial experience in the private sector. Even with these credentials, I don't consider myself remotely qualified to run for public office, as this requires a very special talent --leadership.
How should it be that a high-school grad and college dropout who inherits a vineyard feel he is qualified to assume a public leadership role?
Can't we do any better than this? "
