Lodi Police Department
In the 24 hours after 9 a.m. Thursday, the Lodi Police Department handled 178 calls for police and fire service. The following is a sample of calls received by dispatchers:
Thursday
Arguing + warrant = arrest
10:47 a.m. — A 33-year-old man was arguing with his stepmother and refusing to leave her North Washington Street home. He was arrested on a warrant.
Sleeping on the sidewalk
11:28 a.m. — A sleeping person was blocking the sidewalk at the main driveway to the Big Kmart shopping center, 520 S. Cherokee Lane.
Burglary
1:55 p.m. — A 36-year-old man was suspected of breaking into a residence and stealing a wallet at Palm Terrace Apartments, 420 N. Church St. Police arrested him in connection with the crime, as well as a drunken driving warrant.
Pallet Thief
3:08 p.m. — After stealing pallets at Food-4-Less, 2430 W. Kettleman
Lane, a suspect left in a white Ford Ranger.
Jumping Juveniles
3:26 p.m. — Juveniles were jumping from the train trestle into the Mokelumne River, as happens when school is out and weather is warm.
Burnt Food
4:17 p.m. — Someone left food cooking for too long on a stove at Oak Grove Apartments, 1121 Lloyd St. It burned and filled the apartment with smoke, but nothing caught fire.
Underage drinking probationers
4:17 p.m. — Young people were drinking alcohol at Palm Terrace Apartments, 420 N. Church St. Police arrested a 20-year-old and two 19-year-olds, all males, on suspicion of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, trespassing and being minors in possession of alcohol. They were all accused of violating their probation, too.
Cat in a tree
5:28 p.m. — A cat was in a tree in the 2900 block of Mosswood Drive. No firefighters or police officers were sent to the scene, since animals eventually come down from trees when they get hungry enough.
Naked Swimmers
5:46 p.m. — Three naked boys were swimming in the Mokelumne River behind River Garden Retirement Home, 311 W. Turner Road.
Sex in an alley, or not
6:15 p.m. — A female was possibly engaging in sexual activity in an alley off the 600 block of South Cherokee Lane. Police contacted the woman, who wasn't having sexual relations when they found her. She said she was just visiting a friend.
Drunken Gambler
10:36 p.m. — A drunken man was starting a fight and refusing to leave a table at Wine Country Cardroom, 1800 S. Cherokee Lane. He was arrested for public intoxication.
Found Vehicle
11:37 p.m. — The California Highway Patrol found a vehicle that had been stolen at Les Schwab Tire, 615 E. Lodi Ave.
Friday
DUI
1:58 a.m. — Police stopped a vehicle without headlights on at Orange and Pine streets, then arrested a 20-year-old for driving under the influence.
Swastikas
5:56 a.m. — Someone used blue masking tape to create swastikas on two cars, one in the 500 block of Calaveras Street and one in the 500 block of Sonora Avenue.
