Group's agenda will not be accepted
With the California Supreme Court upholding Proposition 8, we once again see the real agenda of the gay and lesbian movement is not just "tolerance" but "acceptance."
The gay and lesbian movement continually wants to force its beliefs and values down the collective throats of the our state (and country).
Tolerance — absolutely. All minority groups should be provided tolerance (yes, gays and lesbians are a minority group). But this is different; the gay and lesbians consistently want acceptance. They want everyone to "accept" them as typical, normal and representative of our society.
Acceptance is an individual choice, not something that can be voted or legislated into the brains of individuals. This issue is plainly visible in the comments of Ms. Drake (cover page, Lodi News-Sentinel) as she states, "We need to go out and explain to people what this is all about" — as if we do not know already; as if we were somehow more "educated" or "enlightened," we would surely see the light of the gay and lesbian way. Ms. Drake, we understand the issue and have time and time again voted against gay marriage.
I come from neither a religious nor intolerant point of view; mine is pragmatic. Opening the door for gay marriage would likely bring challenges from other beliefs, and polygamy comes to mind. If a man can marry a man, then why not polygamy? And why this arbitrary age of consent for marriage? And I will not discuss the extraordinary amount of my tax dollars that would likely be spent cowering to yet another special interest group.
California has spoken time and time again. Try as you may, you will likely never achieve the acceptance you so clearly covet. Why not move on and do something productive? Live your life without trying to change my mind; it's not going to happen.

" Brian: Are you a part of or have you done a research paper or something on this Gay Fair you speak of so much? I ask because, even though you live 1000 miles away from here, you seem to know an awful lot about this Gay Fair and their wesbites etc etc etc.
-It's called the internet. I am curious
about many things. Yes, this Faire does happen and it is in San Fran not Sac. Had it not been for Leonard's remark on this blogg I may not have brought it up. "

I keep waiting for Brian to show up and tell us about the horrible spectacles of perversion he was forced to witness each of the five times that he accidentally attended the Folsom Street Fair. "
-Haven't been to the Street Faire, either accidently, or on purpose. There is plenty of evidence that acts of perversion occur out in public during this Faire. Based on the reports on various websites, it's undeniable. We would have heard some outrage from the gay community had these reports been false. It'll be a cold day in Hell when gays aren't proud of flogging their logs in public. "

The gay community is a viable, contributing community to our everyday lives. Not having them would make our world a lot more boring, and a lot less classy. "
And we'd be without many more brilliant doctors, mothers and fathers, firefighters, business owners, leaders, military, philanthropists, volunteers, and many other wonderful compassionate people that are an asset to this country. "

I recently joined the tatoo freak parade as well. Not something I would have normally done but I had a reason. My sone is a GOOD artist and i told him if he drew an angel for me I would get it done. In March he finished a great angel and I followed through with my commitment to him. It is a 7x8 angel on the side of the leg that only people I show it to will see.
The guy I got the tat from has a masters in art and sees tatoos as his canvas. While I was there (four hour ordel) two of the other tatooists asked him for advise even though they had been doing it for years more than him.
So what did I get out of it? A nice piece of art from my son that will be a forever reminder to him that I believe enough in his skills to wear it on me. "

It prevents you from donating blood for a full year which we value to help others, and the colors are poor and ugly to top things off. Get a life. "
Did I say they were visible, YOU call it a lack of self repect, and common sense, I call it an outlet in my life that makes me happy and doesn't hurt anyone. Hubby likes them ( two small and easily hidden)I started the trend in my fairly conservitive family. As for the waste of money, ALL my bills are paid, I can afford MY home my girls are happy and lack for nothing what I do with my extra bill monies is my right. As for working or not for your company I could walk in now and get a job and you would never know that I have TATS. AND (YES I"M ON A RANT!!) I have given blood I know my blood type. "

Lodisafeway:Please explain what exactly is being shoved down your throat.
If you're not gay then how will this affect you?
When you vote against gay marriage you are imposing your religious and/or prejudiced views on another law abiding American.
You want to deny these Americans the same rights and opportunities you enjoy. Why?
Well, these are discriminatory reasons and it is illegal. It is illegal to discriminate against someone due to his or her sexual orientation. You don't have to like it, but it's the law.
All Americans are afforded the same rights and opportunities. When you select one segment of the American population and decide they should not enjoy the same rights and opportunities that you enjoy then you will rightfully have a full blown fight on your hands for equality.
I know this isn't over, nor should it be until gay American's have the same rights and opportunities as Lodisafeway. "

I lived in the City for 3 years in the late 90's and my experience is the same. I never saw that sort of thing because I didn't go looking for it. I was too busy eating great food, seeing great bands, attending excellent theater and visiting wonderful museums.
The determined pervert will find the seedy side of life in any locale as evidenced by a certain high ranking salty seaman and Admiral of the Ocean who we all know and love. "

Some places in SF you don`t want to be when the sun goes down, or anytime for that matter. Trust me. "

I have met many gay people there and the only reason I know they are gay is that their "better half" is the same sex.
I do love your "light brown in color" comment. I had a relative use the same comment. He was so into "color" until he started having "brown sugar colored" grand kids. Now he does not see color any more... except to say we are all a "light brown".
I love having a HUGE family. Every religion, every race is part of it. The young educate the old, the old educate the young... and tolerance, love and acceptance is abundant. "

Didn't President Obama indicate that he would eliminate this policy? His own press secretary made it clear earlier this year that the president was going to address it. So, what's changed his mind? Wouldn't it take but an Executive Order to change the rules within the military? Is Obama a bigot; a homophobe?
Perhaps Obama realizes that things are not always as simple as we all believed when we were young and naive. I believe the policy is wrong; it was nothing but a cowardly attempt to skirt the issue by Clinton. But the law hasn't changed. The UCMJ still provides for punishment for homosexual activity by military members. And unless they keep their mouths shut, they're still being administratively discharged. "

But as I expected this forum to move into its typical rant regarding bigotry and homophobia (from those who insist that any disagreement with the gay community couldn't possibly be just a matter of opinion), the author of the letter is neither. In fact by virtue of the comments that are sure to follow, he's absolutely correct: "tolerance" isn't what is sought by the homosexual community. They won't be satisfied until everyone agrees with them and accepts their lifestyle. Such a position is foolish and contrary to how our society is expected to function. I submit the longer this issue is forced down the throats of those who disagree, the larger the number of voters will be who come out against same-sex marriage each time it's placed on the ballot. All the sophomoric name-calling won't win this war. "
