Jack Sieglock to make another bid for 10th Assembly seat
Lodi resident Jack Sieglock has announced a second run for the 10th Assembly District seat, setting up a rematch of one of the hardest fought campaigns of 2008.
Democrat Alyson Huber, of El Dorado Hills, beat out Sieglock by a scant 474 votes districtwide. Following the election, Sieglock appeared to be the winner, retaining the district for Republicans and becoming a consecutive Lodian to hold the post after Republican Alan Nakanishi had been termed out. However, as more results trickled in, Huber edged out Sieglock.
Huber, however, only beat Sieglock in Sacramento County. The Republican gathered more votes in Amador, El Dorado and San Joaquin counties.
Sieglock — a former Lodi city councilman and San Joaquin County supervisor — said the district retains a conservative bent and he's looking to capitalize on that for victory in 2010.
"I don't think this district is going to appreciate all my opponent's support for new taxes, which I think is leading to a bad economy," Sieglock said.
He pointed to the resounding defeat of the various budget propositions in the May special election as evidence of voters' discontent with Sacramento and state lawmakers.
"(The voters) rejected her tax and her continued taxes," he said. "They want government to shape up and live within their means."
Sieglock said Huber is proposing even larger government programs that will ultimately take more money from taxpayers.
"These are tough times and those policies aren't good and won't work," he said.
Although he declined to name specific legislation, Sieglock said Huber's voting record during her time in the Assembly has "exposed herself to be the liberal she is" and residents in the district will turn against her policies.

Sieglock said he's planning a "vigorous grassroots" campaign that will also draw on social networking sites such as Twitter and Facebook to get his message to voters.
To secure the nomination in 2008, Sieglock defeated Rancho Cordova resident David Sander and Sacramento resident Paul Hegyi.
Sieglock said he has not heard of anyone from the Republican party looking to run for the 10th district in 2010.
For her part, Assemblywoman Huber had little to say about Sieglock's announcement to run.
"I'm focused on the business of the state and working to find bipartisan solutions," she said. "There will be plenty of time to talk about political campaigns next year."

I did not say taxes should be increased, I simply believe that if Jack Sieglock is the best candidate the GOP has to offer this district we are in trouble. While the stats show it's a close race between Dems & Reps I believe that as people die and new people register the Dems will increase it's edge.
The problem is multi-sided. CA is in deep trouble- part due to this economy & part due the elected idiots want to spend more than CA collects. Government can not be everything to every person. Hence, programs need to have cuts made, many are layered in bureaucratic fat.
Sieglock's mantra of lower taxes is great, it will get some votes. The reality is that wont happen. How about he work on getting more jobs into this region. What exactly were is accomplishments on the Lodi CC and SJC Board of Sups? Other than the pork he sent here to Lodi for the Grape Bowl and the Festival Pavilion floor. "

If Jack is the best candidate the GOP can come with it proves why the Republicans are so out of touch. Just who donates to Jack's campaign? "
