Cyclists set to ride Lodi countryside
The Lodi Sunrise Rotary Club is hosting today's 13th Annual Lodi Sunrise Century Bike Ride, an event that includes a 50K (38 miles), 100K (62 miles) and 100-mile grand tour of the Lodi region.
Each of the routes offers scenic views of the vineyards, tranquil pastures and farmlands along lightly traveled roads.
All courses begin at Lodi High School, where registration begins at 6 a.m. The cost is $50 per rider. Rest stops are available along the way. Each stop is stocked with fresh fruits, snacks, beverages and water. Sanitary facilities, medical assistance and cellular phones are available to those riders in need of services. All riders will be treated to a barbecue dinner at Lodi High School.
All proceeds from the event are used to fund local and international youth and community service projects. The Lodi Sunrise Rotary Club, for example, recently awarded scholarships to Lodi High students and is sponsoring two short-term youth exchange students to Germany and Italy.
