Lodi couple to keep Village Flowers and Gifts open
Although the longtime owners of Village Flowers and Gifts have arranged their last bouquets, the Lodi florist shop is not closing.
Lodi native Marsha Lerza Yost and her husband, Dennis Yost, took over ownership, and they plan to continue to offer the same type of services that has made Village Flowers a popular local business for more than 30 years.
"Nothing is changing. We're going to continue to have the same quality of flower arrangements and designs," Marsha Lerza Yost said.
Yost prides herself on her Lodi roots. Her family has a history of owning Lodi businesses, including The Music Box, which was previously owned by her mother Alora Lerza Knight.Yost and her husband, who was born in Lodi, Ohio — practice real estate, property management and own Lodi Properties.
The couple met while they were both living in Santa Cruz, but relocated to Lodi nine years ago to be closer to family.
Marsha Lerza Yost says they will largely keep the shop the way it has always been — stocked with lush flowers, plants and gifts, things people need for all occasions, from birthdays to funerals.
"It's such a needed service here in Lodi," she said.

Customers who loved the craftsmanship and quality from Village Flowers and Gifts will be happy to know that the longtime designers will continue to make each arrangement when it's ordered.
"Our flower designers all have 15 to 20 years of experience," Marsha Lerza Yost said. "They are very happy to stay at the Village."
While they hope to keep all the good things the same, the Yosts plan to offer flowers for all wedding needs, from decorative pieces to table settings.
They are also excited to be making the shop more Lodi-themed by selling grape items and gifts with "Lodi" written on them.
