Government spending, taxes protested in Lodi
While waving American flags and holding up signs with the motto, "Taxed Enough Already," more than 200 people attended a tea party to protest taxes and government spending Wednesday.
"We work so hard and give so much to this country and government, and all we ask is that they listen to us," said Brandon Jones, who owns a local business.
While the group says it is not affiliated directly with Republicans, there were other tea party protests against Obama's spending around the country that the Republican party organized. The group chose All Veterans Plaza because taxpayers pay for it and it's a patriotic monument, said Elizabeth Williams, who was one of the organizers.
After attending the Sacramento protest earlier today, Lodi resident Dan White said he attended both rallies because it is important to speak up.
"You don't know if you can change things, but you got to try," he said.
Clint Wilcox, who is vice chair of the United Republicans of America, said he was impressed with Lodi's quick organization. He said there were about 40 protests organized in the state.
"I wanted to support a smaller group that just came out and wanted to make a statement in the area ... There are a lot of frustrated people who don't recognize their country anymore," Wilcox said.
Williams emphasized that her group, which decided on the name Citizens in Action, wanted to create an atmosphere where anyone could come voice their concerns at an open mic.
"We weren't here to talk to the people; we wanted to talk with the people," Williams said.
While standing in the audience with a sign that says "Is my allowance safe?" Evan Madill watched his mother talk about how she hopes there will be other protests on the issue.
Being with like-minded people was one of the reasons John Landley attended both the Sacramento and Lodi protests.
"It's the only outlet we have," he said. "We feel alone. No one is listening to us."
At the end of the protest, people who had tea bags walked over to the fountain and tossed them in, but Williams said she brought a rake and a trash bag to clean them up.
Next Citizens in Action event: Save Our Sovereignty will be held June 14 on Flag Day.

First of all, it is merely your opinion that Brian would never "stand up for what is right". Here, YOU and you alone are deciding what is "right" and "wrong", making yourself the complete arbiter of morals, values and what constitutes the "truth". Hence, your assertions have little value.
Next, you claim that Brian is a "hypocrite" yet fail to back up your claim with any evidence (simply stating, "just look at his previous posts" is not sufficient-you forget that some of us don't spend as much time on here as you do). Again, this is a subjective opinion that YOU have formed.
Lastly, if I attack you it is because you have earned it by your rude, boorish and ridiculous behavior on this site-why more posters don't take you and others of your ilk to task is beyond me--I presuse that they don't want to suffer under your harsh comments.
I will never apologize to you and will continue to call you on your behavior when I see it. "

Either that, or have the Federal government declare bankrupcy. See, now we have two ways out of this mess.

There were MANY people at the rally that voted for Obama and are now having "buyers remorse", so don't try to make this a partisian argument.
Posting your "ankle biter" comment and those of its ilk, uttered by others, is the reason that we're so divided and those in charge are able to divide and conqueor Americans. Too busy holding on to your petty little liberal arguments and bashing the other side to really see how we're all being fleeced.
And that goes for both republicans and democrats, independant and green party people alike. How can we hope to unite in order to make things better when we can't even get along? "

I believe "United States of America" is registered as a PUBLIC entity in London, England. It was created for the sole purpose of assuming liability for the debt (before the Louisiana Purchase).
What's spooky about the year 1999 and the extremely confident belief that the debt was paid, is that "United States of America" was then dissolved. "

If you're fine with us going to Iraq, then quit complaining about your taxes, because that's where a lot of our money went. And, only a small portion would have gone to regular military expenses. Even it if was half, that's still $6 billion per month it cost us.
We do have some of the lowest taxes in the world (percentage per taxpayer).
And I agree, all of Congress is to blame.
I actually don't mind paying my taxes. It is a civic responsibility to help support this country and provide the infrasrtuctre and perks we have that most other countries don't.
So, quit complaining, especially when it sounds like you voted for our more recent president who was most responsible for many of the higher taxes and debt we have now. "

But this is just another attempt to divert attention from the fact that virtually the entire Congress voted to go to war and that in spite of a number of our so-called leader's insisting that the war was lost and that we should simply walk away, it is clear that we will be leaving Iraq in decidedly better shape than when we found it.
But to admit such things would be contrary to the constitution of the far-left-zealot crowd. The only way they can win is if the war is a failure. And I know of no right-minded American who would even begin to believe that would be good for America or Iraq. "

I'm just merely pointing out where our tax dollars have been wasted. I'd be interested to hear of other situations where our country has wasted money. The War in Iraq has cost each taxpayer an average of $5,000 since 2001. I'd personally like to have that money back or go towards education and health care. "

Voting endorses the process. The people holding the sign, most of which voted, endorsed the same government that they now want changed.
People think if they wave a sign that they are doing something. Bzzzzz. No. Wrong answer.
Up higher, in Washington, they are amused by our signs and exhibitions. "
Aimee wrote on Apr 16, 2009 9:59 AM:
Your words sound parroted...those are some of the exact same criticisms I have heard coming from liberal media outlets like CNN who want to spin this into something it is not. Did either of you attend these rallies?
There were all different types of people at the rally; black, white, bikers, rich, poor, businessmen and women, housewives, gay couples, straight couples, republican, democrat, independents, etc. Your trailer trash comment is wholly inadequate. It was a very diverse crowd concerned with the direction of our country. "
Aimee wrote on Apr 16, 2009 9:50 AM:
It was wonderful to see people uniting, of all political persuasions, colors, and economic status. Many "regular" people spoke at the rally, giving their personal stories. The liberal media would like to dismiss this as simply a event created by the super rich to protest the removal (or proposed removal) of tax credits and havens--this is a grassroots movement borne out of frustration--that's why there was such a good turnout. I didn't see that at the rally. What I saw were people concerned for the future of our country, worried that we are losing our values of hard work and determination, things that made our country great. Yes, it was about protesting taxes but it was much more than that. "

That war has cost us an average of $12 Billion a month. Yet, they want to know where their tax dollars are going? Can you imagine how much we could lower taxes in this country if we didn't have a $12B/month drain on our Country?
These poor people just reqally don't understand what's going on, so they take to the streets in anger. They don't realize that they did this to themselves by voting for Bush and others for 8 years and supporting a costly, ineffective war. "

The only item I saw for Lodi was yesterday's paper. 200 - 300 people at such short notice is great!
What's ***really*** great about this is that the entire country is UNITING as one over the economic crisis we're facing as a people.
The number as of March 3 for the State Sovereignty Movement is 32 & Counting! Could be higher now.
