Energy first, aesthetics second

Thursday, March 26, 2009 6:30 AM PDT

What is wrong with you, Sen. Feinstein? The Mojave Desert won’t be “pretty” if solar panels are erected? Are you kidding, or are you simply going off the deep end? For the life of me, I cannot understand your position on this issue.

Last year we suffered gasoline prices that nearly topped off at $5 per gallon. During that time, practically everyone was screaming for alternative sources of energy. In the high desert of California, we have the greatest source of energy in our celestial neighborhood — the sun. And you’re more concerned about how it would look and how it “might” affect some tortoises?

That’s one big desert, Madam Senator. If a tortoise or two gets miffed during the construction process, I guess they’ll just have to (slowly) move along and find a new home. They won’t be wiped out, and to suggest that they would is the height of arrogance and disingenuousness.

As for how such a project may affect the aesthetics of the region — give me a break! How many people venture out into that area to take in the beauty of a desert? Still, we’ve advanced far enough with our technology to design and construct systems that blend in well with whatever environment we need to maintain our standards of living. Just look at the cellular towers that were built in the Sierras — what, you don’t see them? Of course you don’t — they were designed to look like trees!! Ya gotta look real hard to find them.

I suppose being in the majority makes you think all of us out here are simply stupid and will swallow the nonsense that you feel able to advance. But not with this one, Madam Senator. Your stance is so inherently stupid that not even the far-left of left will support your contentions.

I think it’s time you thought about stepping down. After all those years in D.C., you’ve lost touch with reality. Go home, Ms. Feinstein — Please, go home!

In the past I've been loath to follow anyone's URLs that they provide to support whatever contentions they are setting forth; so to actually request one for that purpose is somewhat difficult for me. Still, I see no other alternative.

You inferred (or implied, however you wish to put it) that I wrote something that would place me at odds with the truth. In order to straighten this matter out, would you please provide me with the link to anywhere I may have been untruthful to one "Lodian" as to whom I may or may not have represented myself on this forum? Specifically, I challenge your contention that, "Are you, LodiSafeway, now actually claiming to *be* Jerome Kinderman? Because only a couple of days ago you said in a post you directed at Lodian that you were not."

As you can see, that comment is an obvious attempt to impugn my character. Therefore, I must insist that you provide the proof behind the statement. "

" Danielh - just why do you think the policy on letters-to-the-editor "won't stand?" Have you any idea as to how it was changed; or when? Of course you don't! And neither do the majority of other contributors on this forum. That's because many don't bother to actually read anything beyond these hate-filled posts.

Yours and others' comments here are reminiscent of Nazi Germany where book-burnings were a regular occurrence. "Ideas" were under attack then; just as they are from too many on this board. Rather than discuss the issues presented, hatred and fear rule the day. You see an author's name and instantly see red. "This policy cannot stand!!!" you say. Why?

A couple of months ago this matter was discussed on the Marty 'n' Rich blog. The reason you missed it is because except for this forum, that area of the online paper is moderated; each comment is reviewed prior to it being posted. They're only ideas, danielh. But equally important is the fact that in spite of how many letters one might desire to submit, the News-Sentinel will print only those they wish to print. The old policy limited ideas; so now you're really scared! "

Sadly though many who simply cannot participate in debate in a rational, respectful or intellectual manner find it necessary to resort to such school-yard tactics of name-calling and character assassination. Such behavior is usually not expected of so-called adults, as is one of the requirements for posting on this forum. So either a few here are middle-school kids masquerading, or else they simply lack any semblance of self-control and decency that finds them making such irrelevant and often hateful remarks about someone they don't even know.

I always knew that banking was an important enemy, because bankers fund everything; but, the power of banking was too abstract for me to realize how powerful they were.

Today we see that the economy is crashing, and it has nothing to do with internationalism.

It is caused by criminal banking. "

I believe they were used for
1) Mayflower expedition, although I'm not sure if this was paid due to the long span of time between the Mayflower expedition and 1789.
2) Revolutionary War.
3) Lousiana Purchase. "

Here in Texas, our Senators are a mixed bag. On the one hand we have Kay Bailey Hutchinson, who, in my opinion, is a fairly decent politician, even if she is a Republican. She has a good reputation for really listening to constituents.

John Cornhole, on the other hand, has to be one of the most corrupt idiots to ever disgrace the US Capitol (I know, that is saying a lot). The man is absolutely famous for his misdealings and, over the years, has come to be an ugly caricature of everything that is wrong with Texas politics. "
