Help keep both Lodi, America beautiful
The first of five Keep America Beautiful events in the city of Lodi begins March 28 with a citywide garage sale.
Keep Lodi Beautiful, a series of cleanup activities organized by the city, Waste Management and the San Joaquin County Public Works Department, provides residents an opportunity to dispose of household rubbish as well as bulky and hazardous materials, according to a statement released by the city.
The garage sale is a community activity with the Lodi News-Sentinel allowing residents to advertise their sales for free. Residents can choose to hold their sales on Saturday and Sunday or Saturday only.
April’s activities begin with a free electronic waste collection from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 4, at the Waste Management transfer station at 1333 E. Turner Road. Residents can drop off radios, stereos, VCRs, microwave ovens, cell phones, telephones, answering machines, household batteries, computer equipment, fluorescent lamps and mercury thermometers.
On April 11, residents of Lodi and San Joaquin County can bring their bulky waste to the Waste Management transfer station for $1 per load. Wood, metal, concrete, cardboard and green waste can be brought to 1333 E. Turner Road so recyclable materials can be kept out of area landfills.
The following week, April 13-17, Lodi residents may place up to six 36-gallon bags or trash carts in front of their homes for pick up on their regular collection days.
April 20-24 is Clean Your Files Week. Waste Management will be collecting office paper at its Buy-Back Center, 1333 E. Turner Road, for recycling.
