Elmer Mohrmann
Korean Conflict veteran
Elmer Lavern Mohrmann, 80, of Lodi, died on March 2. He was born on May 28, 1928 on a farm 7 miles southeast of Lockeford.
Mr. Mohrmann was a 1946 graduate of Lodi High School and attended California State University, San Jose for a period of time. He joined the Air Force in April of 1951, serving his tour of duty in Texas, Japan and Korea during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged in April of 1955.
After leaving the Air Force, he worked for the Claude C. Wood Company in Lodi until his retirement. He and his wife also owned Artistic Flowers and Gifts and, in his retirement, he was the manager of lawn and garden at Target. His hobbies included gardening and working in his extensive bonsai garden. He also enjoyed playing bridge, pinochle and other card games.
He is survived by his son, Eric Mohrmann, of Baltimore, Md.; daughters, Roxanne Sareeram, of Lodi, and Heather Braswell, of Wheat Ridge, Colo.; sister, Barbara Wakeham, of Clements; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Bettie Mohrmann, in 1998; and brother, Philip Mohrmann.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday at the Church of Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1510 W. Century Blvd., Lodi. Committal is private and there will be no visitation.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Widowed Persons Association of California, Chapter No. 6, P.O. Box 0933, Lodi, CA 95241.
