Jerry Wadley

Air traffic controller

Jerry Wadley, 78, of Paso Robles and formerly of Lodi, died Feb. 14. He was born on Jan. 17, 1931, in Denver, Colo.

Mr. Wadley resided in Lodi in 1951. Later, he became a longtime resident of Ridgecrest and eventually settled in Paso Robles in 2005. He served in the U.S. Navy for 22 years as an air traffic controller and later as a civilian air traffic controller for 17 years at the Naval Weapon Center in China Lake. After retiring, he volunteered for the Navy Marine Relief Society. His hobbies included motorcycles, CB radios and R.C. model airplanes.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Joyce Bradstreet Wadley, of Paso Robles; daughters, Debra Becker, of Placerville, and Kathleen Kirby, of Cambria; sons, Jeffrey Wadley, of Bakersfield, and Timothy Wadley, of Medford, Ore.; sisters, Patricia Ferrell, of Las Vegas, and Sharon Fawcett, of Vacaville; brother, Gary Wadley, of Utah; 19 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A private funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in the Evergreen Chapel at Cherokee Memorial Park, Highway 99 and Harney Lane, Lodi, with Pastor Pat Christian officiating. Committal, with the U.S. Navy Honor Guard presenting military honors, will follow in the Garden of Trees.
