McNair teacher facing sex charges likely to be home tonight

STOCKTON — The McNair High School teacher accused of having sex with a 16-year-old student was charged today with seven felonies.

Though a prosecutor asked for nearly $500,000 bail for Christina Oliver, a judge instead lowered her bail to $50,000.

Oliver's attorney, Ralph Cingcon, said she would be out of custody and home with her family tonight.

Oliver, 24, was arrested by Stockton police Tuesday night near the home of the teenager.

The Stockton resident was hired in July of 2007 and taught English at McNair High School.

" Honestly, let it go already, they caught her, set a court date, got her to admit what she was doing, and is most likely never setting foot in a classroom again. Just be happy that they actually caught her. "

" And if I know Mr. Cingcon's abilities, this case could turn out to be very different from what has been released so far. He has a very charming and uncanny way to extract very intricate details that could put this case into a tailspin without even going to court. We'll see. "

" observer, I always expect a nice compliment and real factual information from you. And you shouldn't assume others have bad habits until you can shake your own. And jerardway, who are you to judge anybody? For anyone knows, you could be a child molester yourself, as anyone on here. "

" The woman isn't convicted yet, so 500,000 really seems like a bit much. If it turns out that she was giving special help to this student and he got ticked off for some reason and decided to nail her, what better way? If in fact she is convicted of these crimes, she should be looking at a long, long time behind bars. It hasn't been proven yet, but if she did do these things, throw away the key. "

" LoadofEye; The Stockton record reports that the teacher has admitted to having sex with the child. You seem to be unrelenting in your criticism of just about everybody in government and are now defending child molesters!!??? Am I hearing you right? "

lodisafeway wrote on Feb 13, 2009 4:37 PM:

" suziesdad- actually, none of us are required to assume anyone is innocent until proven guilty. That's the court's standard, not the public's. If this had been a man who took advantage of a young girl, there would be a completely different response; and as I stated at 3:44 p.m., this is indicative of a society that is quickly losing its way. Lowering the bail sends a message that what she "allegedly" did (is that better?) is not serious at all; just two people in love. Yeah, right!

Not only should this teacher be fired, she should be prevented from ever entering a classroom again after spending at least 25 years in prison. But that won't happen; at least not in "progressive" California. We're all in big trouble. "

lodisafeway wrote on Feb 13, 2009 4:31 PM:

" Yeah, loadeye - obviously you support the lowering of this woman's bail if you think what I wrote is "blather."

It's good to see your membership in LM is paid in full. Pathetic. "

suziesdad wrote on Feb 13, 2009 4:31 PM:

" Reader from Stockton. How bout letting this go through the courts before you try and fry her? "

LodiReaderFromStockton wrote on Feb 13, 2009 4:16 PM:

" Total double standard. This woman (snort!) should be locked up where she belongs. She took the trust and power granted to her and took advantage of it by molesting this young boy. I mean for goodness sake she was arrested going to see him. She seems very immature, lives at home with her parents, yet she has (hopefully soon had) a good job. She should have never been teaching obviously. "

loadeye wrote on Feb 13, 2009 3:59 PM:

" jerardway, more blather? Are you drinking already today? "

loadeye wrote on Feb 13, 2009 3:57 PM:

" She'll be home sooner than that if Mr. Cingcon is her attorney. I know Ralph very well and he wouldn't touch this case if he knew he couldn't win it. Some of you good ol' boys will be needing a sharp attorney like Ralph later this year. "

lodisafeway wrote on Feb 13, 2009 3:44 PM:

" And if this had been a male teacher with a female student, the bail would be reduced? I think not. Double-standard? No, not at all. Just a society being flushed down the crapper at every turn. "
