Tokay wrestlers finish fourth at Stagg Tourney
Four Tigers placed in the top four, helping the Tokay varsity wrestling team take fourth in the team standings at Stagg High's Demolition Days Tournament on Saturday.
Javier Pacheco, at 160 pounds, and Esteban Chavez, at 215 pounds, both pieced together 3-1 records with two pins each in runner-up performances. At 103 pounds, Amritpal Mangat went 4-1 with three pins for third place and 171-pounder Andrew Richards also placed third with a 4-1 record with two pins. Cameron Roth, at 152 pounds, finished in fourth place with a 3-2 record.
Amitos Samra (112 pounds), Dan Washburn (119) and Alex Lecocq (135) all wrestled their way to 2-2 records with two pins each.
Tokay totaled 120.5 points as a team in the 20-squad field, 67.5 behind tournament champion Foothill.

Lodi places 10th at
Demolition Days
Flame wrestlers Ryan Henry and Kevin Schmierer each placed in Stagg's tournament on Saturday, helping Lodi finish 10th in the 20-team competition. Henry, at 135 pounds, won four matches — all by pins — while only losing one to finish in third place. Heavyweight Schmierer went 2-2 with two pins to take fourth. Nick Miner, at 130 pounds, went 3-2 with two pins for Lodi.
Luke Jump (103 pounds), Ruben Vallejo (112), David White (119), Khenyada Beck (145) and Daniel Frazier (171) each compiled two victories for the Flames.

Tokay wins Demolition Days
The Tigers amassed 139 points in Saturday's tournament at Stagg High, taking first place by earning 22.5 points more than runner-up Rosemont. Four Tokay wrestlers finished second individually, while two others placed third.
Matt Washburn, at 130 pounds, and Alex Bluhm, at 140 pounds, both went 3-1 with two pins each in second-place performances. Brandon Coon, at 145 pounds, and Nick Parisis, at 160 pounds, both went 3-1 with one pin apiece in runner-up days. Justin Lewis, at 171 pounds, pinned his way to four victories and only lost one match to place third and Tmuis Nelson went 4-1 with three pins to take third place.
Lodi takes ninth at Demolition Days
Conner Silva went undefeated for an individual championship and the Flames had five other wrestlers place in the top four on their way to a ninth-place finish in the 20-team tournament at Stagg High on Saturday.
Silva, wrestling at 103 pounds, went 3-0 with two pins to take first. His teammate Garrett Bertsch, also wrestling at 103 pounds, placed third with a 3-1 record and three pins, while 160-pounder Cody Edsell went 3-1 with three pins for a third-place finish.
Spencer Rodriguez, at 112 pounds, went 2-2 to take fourth, Brennan Pacheco, 130, went 3-2 with three pins to place fourth and Kyle House, at 140 pounds, had one pin and a 2-2 record to take fourth place.

Wood Creek 63, Lodi 36
The Flames rolled through the Mesa Verde Tournament this weekend undefeated until they fell to Wood Creek in the tournament championship.
Collin Rhoads led the way with 11 points, Matt Smith scored nine, Luke Simon netted four, Jarold Mendez and Ryan Carter each added three and Justice Panzarello, Graham Hall and Cameron Spring each chipped in two for the Flames (8-5).

Hinchman wins Metropolitan Gl
Marissa Hinchman put together rounds of 74 and 78 for a two-day total of 152 to win the girls 11-14-year-old division of the California Junior Tour's Metropolitan Golf Links tournament in Oakland over the weekend.
Hinchman, a 14-year-old Lodi High golfer, recorded four birdies in the first round and two more in the second to finish at eight over, three strokes ahead of the runner-up. The first-place finish was Hinchman's second in the California Junior Tour in the three tournaments she played in since October.

Tokay Flying Tigers 59, Linden Lions 32
The Flying Tigers won the Annunciation New Years Tournament on Sunday by defeating the Linden Lions in the Championship game. The Flying Tigers executed a balanced scoring attack led by Adam Gotelli and Orion Sublan, who each hit two 3-pointers and finished the game with 10 points apiece. Kyle Rivers, Patrick Lugo, Brandon Claunch and Jovy Orbon each scored seven for Tokay, Colin Wilson chipped in six, Jacob Villalpando added a free throw and Josh McAfee had a steal.

Thunder win two in Alaska
The Stockton Thunder beat Alaska 4-1 on Friday, then edged the Aces 2-1 in overtime Saturday.
In Saturday's win, National Conference All-Star selection Ryan Huddy scored two goals, including the game-winner at 1:19 of sudden death overtime to lift the Stockton Thunder (12-17-5, 29 points).
The Thunder, who took five of a possible six points in the three-game series in Anchorage, improved to 2-0-1 since Matt Thomas took over as new head coach and were aided in net by goaltender Bryan Pitton's 17 saves on Saturday.

Calgary 11, Stockton 8
A crowd of 2,038 watched Calgary's 19-year-old Fran Miron strike early against the first-place Cougars at Stockton Arena on Saturday night. Miron netted three goals and was the key to a late six-goal, fourth quarter rally that pushed Calgary (5-3) to the win and into a tie for first place in the Canadian Major Indoor Soccer League. Despite the loss, the Cougars (5-2) remain at the top of the Western Division Professional Arena Soccer League standings and will next host the San Diego Sockers in a United States Arena Soccer Open Cup match on Jan. 11.
