Target burglary attempt fails
The attempts of several would-be burglars were foiled early Saturday when they tried to break into Target but discovered that employees were inside.
Around 2:30 a.m., three male suspects broke in through windows at the 2355 W. Kettleman Lane store's garden center, Lodi Police Lt. Steve Carillo said.
All three ran when they saw employees inside. Police searched the building to make sure no remaining suspects were inside, but they did not find anyone.
Nobody was injured, and no merchandise was stolen.

Patrolling on San Joaquin County freeways, rural county roads and on city streets late Saturday night, the California Highway Patrol arrested 40 people, most of them on suspected drunken driving offenses, according to CHP spokesman Adrian Quintero.
The CHP deployed 10 additional two-person units from 9 p.m. Saturday to 2:30 a.m. Sunday as part of a grant from the Office of Traffic Safety, Quintero said. They focused in areas with a history of drunken driving crashes.
About 35 of the arrests were alcoholor drug-related, he said. Officers also found some methamphetamine, Quintero said.

Thanks for the fun, one and all -- the silliness as well as the very kind words. I must say, it was a nice diversion for a Monday. "

Mad Dog: You crack me up! I really do "run all over town." But nope, I don't go to Baskin Robbins -- maybe I have an impostor there?? "

Why is Layla ALWAYS in line at Baskin Robbins when she is supposed to be out running and reporting the news???? There must be a lot of breaking news in the ice cream line! "

I used to own a commercial building in Santa Rosa. In a 6 month period of time, I had 13 seperate attempts and actual break-ins. On one occasion, I arrived to find the lock on my front door had been removed. I went in to call 911 and discovered that the "gentleman" was still in my store! He managed to get away.
On another occasion, the building had been broken into 3 out of 4 nights in a row. The next night, I waited in my store with two of my friends..Mr Smith and Mr Wesson. Sure enough, two "gentlemen" paid me a visit. They became long term guests at the jail. None of those incidents were ever in the paper.
While these sort of incidents were a major issue for me. They were not that newsworthy at the time. That does not mean the reporters were slacking off. "

Frankly, stores are regularly burglarized and merchandise is sometimes stolen: Last week we had a brief in the paper about Radio Shack being burglarized three times in 30 days, with electronic equipment being stolen. "

Also there's not much to the attempted burglary story in today's edition of the paper compared to what's being said on the news. I gotta agree the reporters are slacking a bit with the info being given in the stories printed in the News Sentinel, which surprises me since you guys are good at it at times. "
