Flames fall in San Diego tourney
Jessie Saner and Gabby Munsch each had nine points for Lodi High's varsity girls basketball team in a 61-34 loss to Garfield High on Saturday in the San Diego Surf and Slam Tournament.
Kelsi Meier scored six, Erin DeSnayer had five, Shantel Dickerson and Jill McMillen had two apiece and Paige Budiselich added one for the Flames (7-5).
Lodi plays Bellevue High of Washington today at 10:30 a.m.
Lodi tops Valley in frosh-soph contest
Collin Rhoads had 20 points and Justus Panzarello added 17 to lead Lodi High's frosh-soph boys basketball team to a 60-55 victory over Valley on Saturday night.
Matt Smith scored nine for the Flames (6-4), Graham Hall had six, Luke Simon netted four, Cameron Spring had three and Jerold Mendez added one.
Tokay freshmen knock off Ripon
Priscilla Gutierrez had nine points to lead Tokay High's freshman girls basketball team to a 30-27 victory over Ripon last Friday night.
Lacy Cowin scored eight, Page Kininmonth had seven and Perla Chavez added six for the Tigers (4-5).

Salmon Kings defeat Thunder
Brady Leavold's second goal of the year and eventual game-winner with 16:08 left in regulation spearheaded a three-goal rally by the Victoria Salmon Kings in the third period, sending the Stockton Thunder (10-17-4, 24 points) to its fifth straight loss in a 5-2 decision on Sunday at Stockton Arena.
James Bates, who broke a 16-game goal-scoring drought and Damian Surma each scored for the Thunder, who dropped their third straight to Victoria this season.

Cougars beat Fire on the road
Majell Aterado had three goals — including the game-winner — to lead the Stockton Cougars to a 12-6 road win against the Wenatchee Fire F.C. (0-6) on Saturday night at Wenatchee, Wash.
The win kept the Cougars (5-1) at the top of the Professional Arena Soccer League's Western Conference standings. The 5-1 start is the best in Cougars' history.
Stockton hosts the Calgary United on Saturday at 7:15 p.m.
