The latest news on local athletes who are continuing to play at the college or pro levels.

Jon Davis
Sport: Football
High School: Jim Elliot Christian
College: Azusa Pacific
Davis, a senior All-American wide receiver for the Cougars, caught four passes for 80 yards and no touchdowns for the South in a 27-0 loss to the North at the East Coast Bowl in Petersburg, Va., over the Thanksgiving weekend. The game featured 68 of the best Division I-FCS, II, III and NAIA players from 33 different states.

The bulk of the offensive highlights for the North team came from the circus catches made by Davis, including a 30-yard, one-handed catch streaking down the sideline. Davis caught all four passes thrown to him.

As a result of his outstanding performance, representatives from the East-West Shrine Game and Texas vs. The Nation Bowl Game spoke with Davis after the game and indicated that Davis may receive an invitation to continue showcasing his skills. He has attracted the attention of several NFL football teams, including the New Orleans Saints.
