Scott Brown gives Tigers a spark
Tokay High senior Scott Brown provided the defensive-minded Tigers with an offensive spark last week, scoring from all over the floor while leading his team to the championship game of the Stagg Tournament.

Brown had a team-high 23 points in a 58-49 victory over Bear Creek in the opening round and then went for 17 points and 10 rebounds in a 63-36 win over Armijo in the second round.
Brown scored 12 points in the championship game, but Tokay lost a thriller to Sonora, 44-43. Brown was named to the all-tournament team for his efforts.
Family: Steve and Mary, parents; one brother, one sister.
Favorite sport: Basketball, because it's action-packed and has a fast tempo.
Favorite athlete: Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Jackson. "He's kind of like me," Brown said. "He can go into the post or outside."
Favorite hobbies: Playing basketball and hanging out with friends.
Favorite subject: Physical education.
Would like to meet: Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning. "He's smart and is always prepared for the opposing defense will do."
Crowning achievement: Recording his first double-double in last week's victory over Armijo.
Plans: Brown hopes to land a basketball scholarship.
The Athlete of the Week is selected by the News-Sentinel sports staff. Nominations are gladly accepted. Brown will receive a T-shirt courtesy of Lodi Sporting Goods for being selected.
