Roland Newton
Korean War veteran
Roland Nathen Newton, 76, of Lodi, died on Nov. 23. He was born on Jan 27, 1932, in Brawley.
Mr. Newton served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was later employed by the United States Postal Service for 26 years. During those 26 years, he met and married his wife, Hope.
Mr. Newton was an active member of the Lodi Elks and Moose Lodges and enjoyed traveling with his wife and friends, spending time with his family, working the real estate market, playing cards and reading.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Hope Newton, of Lodi; daughters, Lora Young, of Stockton, Susan Kasinger, of Lodi, and Pamela Campbell, of Fresno; son, Mark Newton, of Fresno; sisters, Myrtle McIntyre and Susan Bruch; brothers, Gary Newton and Dennis Newton; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A celebration of his life and recitation of the Rosary will be held at noon Sunday in the Evergreen Chapel at Cherokee Memorial Park, Highway 99 and East Harney Lane, Lodi. Committal will follow in the Garden of Freedom with Rev. Brandon Ware of St. Anne's Catholic Church officiating.
