Myree Bowden helping Tigers
It's not enough to just point out that Myree Bowden spent two standout seasons with the University of the Pacific men's basketball team, including starring on the 2004 and 2005 NCAA Tournament teams who turned in first-round upsets.
He's also been the runner-up at the 2005 NCAA Final Four Slam Dunk contest, played with the Harlem Glob Trotters and has clips of his famously ferocious dunks all over YouTube.
Apparently, he wants more basketball in his life.
When Tokay High varsity basketball coach Steven Kayson tapped him on the shoulder to become Tokay's next freshman basketball coach, Bowden couldn't resist the opportunity.
Bowden spent last year as an assistant at Lincoln High in Stockton.
Not only will Bowden bring his experience and talent to the Tokay High basketball program, he will also bring them to the NorCal All-Star Basketball Camp being held Friday, Nov. 28 at the Lodi Grape Pavillion.
Coach Bowden is scheduled to join fellow Pacific Basketball alumni Dan Masters, Alex Cesena (2007 Tokay Basketball player and 2007 TCAL Defender of the Year), the Lodi Flying Tigers coaching staff and a variety of other coaches from the Lodi area.
Registration for the camp can be done online at: www.NorCalHoops.Net or by phone at (209) 518-1331. Camp check-in begins at 8:30 a.m., with warm-ups beginning at 9 a.m. The camp concludes at 1 p.m.
