Have we learned anything?
This letter is in response to the letter written by Bob and Jan on Nov. 12 in the News-Sentinel.
Have we learned nothing from Massachusetts and Canada? Too many other rights are at risk when same-sex marriage is legal; it is impossible to deny the evidence. Parents' rights to opting-out their children from homosexual education is denied; four firemen in San Diego harassed for their belief in not walking in gay pride parade and told they don't have the same rights as regular citizens; Canada passes C-250; churches are being sued for not marrying gay couples. The "gay agenda" isn't a gay agenda at all. No, it's just part of a larger, extreme left-wing agenda fueled to crush conservative political voices. If it were only about marriage and others' rights stay intact, fine, but the evidence proves otherwise. And by the way, Bob: When these new forms of inequality (born of this very issue) arise, then where are those Prop. 8 opponents to be found? Nowhere. Because equality only matters when it affects them specifically. This is why the only true solution is to keep marriage and domestic partnerships the way the people said in 2000. I grow tired of the same old rants.
