Street closures for Larry Canfield's funeral procession announced
The Sacramento County Sheriff's Department has announced the timing of road closures for today's law enforcement procession for sheriff's deputy Larry Canfield, 43, who grew up in Galt and was killed in a motorcycle accident while on duty Nov. 12 in Rancho Cordova.
Galt will have the following road closures today:
Heavy traffic causing delays can be expected throughout central Galt this afternoon, according to sheriff's spokesman Tim Curran.
On southbound Highway 99, the California Highway Patrol will conduct rolling traffic breaks and intermittent ramp closures between Sheldon Road in Elk Grove and Liberty Road, south of Galt for the procession beginning at about 12:30 p.m.
A memorial service for Canfield will begin at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Elk Grove, 8939 E. Stockton Blvd., just south of Sheldon Road. A graveside service will be held after the procession at Galt Cemetery, 14180 Joy Drive, followed by a reception, which Curran says is for law enforcement personnel only, at Littleton Community Center, 410 Civic Drive, Galt.
