Comments in article concern writer

I am writing in response to the article "Gays in limbo due to Prop. 8," of Nov. 6. Whether you voted "yes" or "no" on Proposition 8 is not the issue bothering me. The issue is regarding Ken Owen, founder of Lodi-based Christian Community Concerns.

Mr. Owen states, "There's a homosexual agenda, which is an evil, wicked thing. They want to destroy marriage." The article then states that Mr. Owen does not harbor any ill will toward gay people and then he continues to say, "I don't hate a homosexual any more than I hate a drunkard or a drug addict. But the alcoholic and drug addict are not in my face trying to get me to accept their lifestyle." It pains me to even write what came out of this person's mouth. Unfortunately, many people share his opinion, and that is deeply concerning.

As a fellow human being like you, Mr. Owen, I believe that marriage between a man and a woman is sacred. However, just because a human being wants to be married to the same-sex person does not mean they want to destroy marriage. Homosexuals do not have an evil and wicked agenda, as you stated, Mr. Owen. I can't imagine any homosexuals feeling comfortable expressing themselves in this town, let alone in your face trying to get you to accept their lifestyle.

Statements like these make me question your Christian faith, Mr. Owen. People who are truly Christian are kind, tolerant and forgiving people who believe that we are all created equal. Christians do not hate. Individuals who choose not to think "out of the box" and remain in their sheltered bubble is the reason why we all have to pray for people like you.
