In regards to Patrcia Brandon's letter on Oct. 28: Is she trying to say Sen. Barack Obama is anti-American?
She must be listening to Rush Limbaugh or some other uninformed right-wing commentator. Sen. Obama wants to bring our troops home from an unnecessary war started by President George W. Bush, and concentrate our troops in Afghanistan, where our real enemies are hiding in the Afghani-Pakistan tribal border regions. There was no al-Qaida in Iraq until we occupied that country. Saddam Hussien only terrorized his own people, and, by the way, what happened to the WMDs?
Sen. Obama salutes the flag.
Some of Sen. Obama's foreign policy advisers are retired Gen. Colin Powell (former Secretary of State) and retired Gen. Wesley Clark (former commander of all NATO forces and a Rhodes Scholar), Madeline Albright and Zbignienw Brizinski (former Secretaries of State), etc. If Sen. McCain is elected and something happens to him (God forbid), you get Gov. Sarah Palin as president. Then how secure would you feel? I would be worried.

I've also used a couple of different names (legally). I also worked for the federal government while using my aka. I've been finger printed with both names, I've signed legal documents with both names. Frankly, I don't care if he changes his name to Barney the Dinosaur.
Some kids (and young adults) will keep the names of their father, or change their names to their step father's, or change their names to their mother's maiden, I don't really think it is a significant detail...sorry. "

Official Birth Certificates are issued (usually) by the the "Vital Records" department. Not by the hospital. Therefore there would be no doctor or witness signature. My daughter was actually born in Hawaii, there is no witness or doctor signature on her official birth certificate. You would find those types of signatures on the birth registration forms.
I myself was born at Lodi Memorial hospital, and all I've ever used to get my social security card and driver's license was my unofficial birth certificate issued by the hospital (one of those souvenir type deals with my little baby foot prints on the back).
I guess it could be different in different states, however, there wouldn't be any "witnesses" to the birth at the Vital Records Office. "

Well thank you for assuming I make over $250,000.00 I in fact do not. Therefore will be receiving a tax break, and not a tax increase. You would know this if you actually knew any of Barack's policies on taxes. So I hope for your sake you do not take advantage of any government run programs under a McCain policy because all spending towards them will be frozen, and all of your taxes will be going towards the war, and vets of the war..This is per John McCain, I don't need to make stuff up in my party for them to win votes.. The national debt will increase if Barack Obama is elected. In the short term, it might increase just as fast or faster than it did under GWB. However, I believe there's a good chance that the rate of increase in the national debt over the longer haul will slow down,and we'll get smaller budget deficits.
What I've seen on both the state and national scenes is not a conflict between fiscal conservatives and tax-and-spend liberals. It's been a conflict between borrow-and-spend pseudo-conservatives and tax-and-spend liberals.

With that said, don't believe all the lies out there about Prop 8. Teaching marriage is not one of our standards--it is not taught in the classroom. This is one of the most ridiculous campaigns out there. There is actually a commercial with a kid saying "Mom--I can marry a princess!" What a logical fallacy. And there is another lie about a first grade class going on a field trip to a gay wedding. We are not allowed to take students anywhere without parent permission slips--so did parents consent to this trip? Doubtful. By law, I can't even show a "PG" rated movie to my high school students without a permission slip. This whole campaign is full of lies.
