Police arrest two after alleged drug find

A Lodi man was arrested early Friday after police allegedly found cocaine, marijuana and steroids in his apartment.

Police have been called numerous times to the home in the 300 block of South Ham Lane regarding complaints of loud music, but residents never answered the door, Capt. Benincasa said.

But this time, when police arrived at 1:15 a.m., resident Todd Shuman happened to be walking out the door. Officers learned that the 44-year-old was wanted on three warrants and was also on probation, so they searched his home, Benincasa said.

Inside police said they found 255 grams of marijuana, 3.6 grams of cocaine and a vial of anabolic steroids.

Also arrested was Wesley Woodworth, 24, who was at the home and on parole, Benincasa said.

Woodworth is on parole for his role in a June 2003 drive-by shooting that left a bullet in an 18-year-old woman's brain.

The victim, who was not the intended target, survived with permanent medical complications. The shooter, Brandon Packer, was sentenced to 28 years to life in prison.

Woodworth, the driver, received a seven-year sentence and was paroled in July 2007.

Teen arrested, brother sought after pot bust

Officers arrested a 14-year-old girl Thursday night and were still looking for her older brother after finding two pounds of marijuana in their Lodi bedroom, Lodi police said.

Police went to the home in the 400 block of East Locust Street at 7:26 p.m. after getting information that drugs were in the home, Capt. Gary Benincasa said.

The 16-year-old boy is on probation, which meant officers could search his bedroom, which he shares with his sister. The girl was arrested and released to her parents after police found the marijuana, Benincasa said.

The boy was not home and police were still looking for him.

Neither teen's name was released by police because they are juveniles.

" On the pot bust... why don`t they let the people know who the kids are? Our paper and T.V. stations let the people know who these idiots are!!!! "

" Numerous Yes on Prop 8 signs have been vandalized or stolen in Lodi over the past few weeks. Report this crime to Lodi police and keep on the look-out late night for the criminals. It is interesting that nearby Obama and No on Prop 8 signs are left unmolested. I guess the Obama crowd isn't so tolerant of Christians and other like-minded folks. Please pass on the word. My neighbors and our family have started a late-night watch with video equipment to monitor and catch the criminals. Bear in mind, the terrorist actions against those with Yes on Prop 8 signs are just the first assualts on freedom of thought and association by the Gazis. "
