Agritourism consultant to present at conference
Agritourism consultant and speaker Jane Eckert, owner of Eckert AgriMarketing, will be the keynote presenter at the San Joaquin County Agritourism Conference.
The conference, hosted by county Visitors Bureaus in cooperation with the Farm Bureau, is the first of its kind in the county, and is designed to educate and inform growers and farmers about issues relevant to adding a tourism component to their business.
According to Nancy Beckman, Visit Lodi! president and CEO, agritourism is one of the fastest growing segments of the travel industry and comes in many forms. It can be farm tours, u-pick operations, farm stays, school tours or hands-on classes.
The conference is being held November 12 from 8:30 to 4 p.m. at the new Robert J. Cabral Ag Center at 2101 E. Earhart Ave. in Stockton. Immediately following the conference will be a Lodi Wine Taste and Learn Social hosted by the Lodi Woodbridge Winegrape Commission. The cost is $40 and includes lunch, a how-to step-by-step agritourism manual, and entry to the social. For more information or to register for the conference, call 337-2726.
