An 11-year-old girl was found safely late Sunday morning at the home of a man who took her from a Laundromat on Victor Road while her grandmother wasn't looking, according to Lodi police.

Detectives were searching Sunday afternoon for the man who took the girl at about 6:30 p.m. Saturday from the Laundromat at 633 E. Victor Road, according to Officer Dale Eubanks. The girl apparently left the Laundromat willingly, he added.

The man, in his mid-20s, apparently had some type of "fascination" for the girl and took her to his house, Eubanks said. According to family and friends of the girl, she is a good student and doesn't associate with unscrupulous people, Eubanks said.

Once located, the man who took the girl will be arrested on suspicion of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and other possible offenses, he added.

Free breakfasts at Lodi schools this week

To commemorate National School Lunch Week, children at many schools in the Lodi Unified School District will be serving free breakfasts this week.

Free breakfasts will be limited to schools that already have a breakfast program.

And at lunchtime, students at 28 schools are offered a "garden bar" on Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout October. Students are allowed to choose lettuce, pickles, sliced tomatoes and onions to put on their hamburgers, according to the district's food service department.

Lunches include health-conscious items like fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, zero trans fats, salad bars, pizza with whole-grain crust and low-fat cheese, whole-grain pasta and baked items rather than fried, according to the school district.

New truck limits for Cord Road

Due to structural damage on the Cord Road bridge near Clements, the San Joaquin County Public Works Department has posted lower weight limits for the bridge.

Load limits were changed to 17 tons for light trucks, 27 tons for medium trucks and 33 tons for heavy trucks. Truckers are advised to use Acampo or Johnson roads instead.

Public works staff discovered decayed timber at both abutments of the Cord Road bridge. Crews will evaluate the bridge to determine what repairs are needed.
