The latest news on local athletes who are continuing to play at the college or pro levels.

Jeremiah Kelley
Sport: Football
High School: Tokay
College: Bowling Green State
Kelley, a senior wide receiver for the Falcons, caught one pass for 48 yards in Bowling Green's 24-21 loss to Eastern Michigan in the Mid-American Conference opener for both teams on Saturday. For the season, Kelley has caught 13 passes for 206 yards and no touchdowns for the Falcons (2-3, 0-1 MAC).

Pete Murdaca

High School: St. Mary's
College: San Joaquin Delta
Murdaca passed for a 13-yard score to wide receiver Diamond Morell but then was intercepted on the ensuing drive as the Mustangs (4-1) suffered their first loss of the season 24-17 to Butte College. In five games, Murdaca has completed 53-of-101 passes for 697 yards with five touchdowns and one interception for a 122.38 quarterback efficiency rating.

Bobby Shepard

College: Fresno State
The redshirt freshman handled all the long-snapping duties in the Bulldogs' 32-29 loss in its Western Athletic Conference home opener to Hawai'i on Saturday in a regionally-televised college football game on FSN Sports.

Fresno St. is now 3-2 overall.


Jon Davis

High School: Elliot Christian
College: Azusa Pacific
Davis, an All-American wide receiver for the Cougars, caught five passes for 71 yards and one touchdown in Azusa Pacific's 24-17 loss to Humboldt State on Saturday. Davis' 17-yard touchdown reception from quarterback John Van den Raadt came late in the fourth quarter. Azusa is now 1-4 on the season.

Davis, a second-year freshman wide receiver, caught three passes for 43 yards on Saturday in the Cougars' 24-17 loss to Humboldt State in Arcata. His longest reception of the game was 23 yards.


Jason Beilstein

High School: Tokay
College: S.D. School of Mines
Beilstein, a 6-6 junior starting tight end, had five catches for 63 yards in the Hardrockers' 46-7 win over Mayville on Saturday.

Beilstein now has 28 catches for 327 yards and four touchdowns in five games for South Dakota School of Mines (4-1) this season.

Dea Cook
Sport: Soccer
High School: St. Mary's
College: UCLA
Cook is in her junior season as a starting defender for the Bruins, who hold down the No. 3 spot in the NCAA national rankings. UCLA (9-0-2) defeated Pepperdine, 1-0 on Friday. The Bruins also defeated No. 19-ranked San Diego, 3-0 on Sunday.

Cook has spearheaded a UCLA defense which has allowed just one goal in 86 shot attempts all season and none since its opener for a measly 0.09 goals allowed per game.

The Bruins have pitched shutouts the last 10 games. Cook has started all 11 games and played 767 minutes.

Megan Heine

High School: Lodi
College: Delta College
The sophomore Libero had 13 digs and two aces in Delta's 25-17, 25-18, 25-12 victory over Cosumnes last Friday. Heine and the Mustangs will be back on the court on Wednesday to host Santa Rosa Jr. College.

Kacy Cox

High School: Lodi
College: Delta College
The sophomore setter had 18 assists in Delta's victory over Cosumnes.

Rosalyn Hall
Sport: Volleyball
High School: Lodi
College: Cosumnes River College
The freshman setter had 20 assists, 11 digs, nine kills and four aces in Cosumnes' 3-1 win over Solano College last Wednesday. She had 14 assists and six digs in the loss to Delta. Hall and the rest of her Hawk teammates will return to action on Wednesday when they host Modesto Jr. College.

Joyelle Amick
Sport: Water polo
High School: St. Mary's
College: Delta College
Amick had eight saves in goal as the Mustangs (10-8) beat Santa Monica 13-4 in the first game of a non-conference doubleheader on Saturday. In the nightcap, Amick amassed nine blocks in a 10-8 loss to Southwestern.

Amick will be tested in goal again on Wednesday as Delta hosts Modesto Jr. College.
