LOEL thanks community for its support
The LOEL Center and Gardens cannot express the gratitude felt toward the Lodi community.
At the beginning of September, Food 4 Less on Kettleman Lane held a fund-raiser in their parking lot to help raise funds for our kitchen renovation. The employees and managers from Food 4 Less that helped were gracious and friendly! Through their support and the support from the Lodi community, $1,200 was given to LOEL. This is a good chunk toward our goal.
In the middle of September, the city of Lodi awarded $132,000 in CDBG money to the LOEL Center for kitchen equipment. This will cover the cost of most of the equipment we will need to once again provide hot, nutritious meals to the homebound seniors as well as the seniors that visit LOEL for lunch every day.
At the end of September, the Lodi-Tokay Rotary held an Oktoberfest at the American Legion Hall. The proceeds from this event will go toward a new commercial dishwasher for the new kitchen. These dishwashers run about $10,000. This is one piece of equipment that is taken care of thanks to the Lodi-Tokay Rotary Club and the community.
Thanks again to Food 4 Less and the Lodi-Tokay Rotary for holding these events for LOEL. Thank you, Lodi residents, for making both of these events huge successes and for your support of the LOEL Center. The partnership between the city of Lodi and the LOEL Center will benefit generations of seniors for years to come.
With such great community support, we're on our way to reaching our goal of completing the renovation of our kitchen. Keep up your giving spirit, Lodi, and thanks!
