Lodi Police Department
In the 24 hours after 10 a.m. Wednesday, the Lodi Police Department handled 149 calls for service. The following is a sample of calls received by dispatchers:
Thursday
Drugs
1:52 a.m.: A man was arrested on drug charges and drug warrants in the 400 block of Vine Street.
Shooting, or not?
4:26 a.m.: A resident said someone fired a gun and hit a wall of his room at Star Bar Hotel, 22 S. Main St. Nobody else heard anything, and police found no sign of a bullet.
Bird shooters?
5:08 a.m.: Two employees were supposedly shooting birds at Food-4-Less, 2430 W. Kettleman Lane. Nobody confessed to doing it, and police saw no dead birds.
Wednesday
Carpet Dumping
11:40 a.m.: Someone dumped unwanted carpet behind George's Carpet, 431 S. Cherokee Lane.
Urinating Juveniles
12:30 p.m.: A large group of juveniles was loitering near Arthur's Party World, 2310 Tienda Drive, and some of them urinated on the wall.
Suspicious gas purchases
12:36 p.m.: A man was waiting for cars to enter Tokay Shell, 420 W. Kettleman Lane, and was then using one credit card to fill at least three of them. Police learned that his grandfather had lent him a gas card to fill his own vehicle: but not his friends' vehicles.
Scared Mothers
12:45 p.m.: Gang-looking males were scaring mothers at Legion Park, 835 S. Hutchins St.
Sick Woman
1:15 p.m.: A woman in a pink shirt was vomiting in a gutter near Sacramento Street and Lodi Avenue.
Attempted purse theft
1:44 p.m.: A man reached into a car window and tried to steal a woman's purse at Genet's Hallmark Shop, 708 W. Kettleman Lane. The purse ripped and she was able to keep her purse, but the dark-haired suspect may have gotten her cell phone.
Gathering of gang members?
2:09 p.m.: Twenty people, possibly gang members, were sitting in Van Buskirk Park, 600 N. Pleasant Ave. By 2:40 p.m., they had moved on to Hale Park, 208 E. Locust St., and were fighting. Though there was a report of knives and guns, none were found.
Grand Theft
3:14 p.m.: Property valued at more than $400 was stolen from a vehicle in the 500 block of Park Street.
Just a joke
3:28 p.m.: Four juveniles were whipping another juvenile with a rope in the 1400 block of West Tokay Street, and he was possibly tied to the side of the house and gagged. Police learned it was merely a joke among friends and nobody was injured.
Water Seller
4:23 p.m.: A strange-looking man in a white shirt and khaki pants was trying to sell water products in the 1100 block of North Ham Lane.
Drinking and urinating
4:27 p.m.: Males were drinking and urinating on trees in the 500 block of East Tokay Street.
Fight
4:35 p.m.: Juveniles were fighting at Hutchins Street Square, 125 S. Hutchins St.
Drug Warrants
5:46 p.m.: A man wanted on drug and battery warrants was arrested in the 100 block of North Sacramento Street.
Skateboard Throwers
5:47 p.m.: Four juveniles were throwing their skateboards at a wall at Millswood Middle School, 233 N. Mills Ave.
Drug Arrests
6:10 p.m.: Robbery suspects were possibly in a room at the Oasis Motel, 736 S. Cherokee Lane. Nobody was arrested for robbery, but three people were arrested after police allegedly found methamphetamine in the room.
Suspicious Man
7:21 p.m.: A suspicious man, who didn't belong in the neighborhood, was sitting in an older white Mercedes with the hood up and the door open on Cabrillo Circle near Lodi Avenue. He was arrested for possessing a syringe.
Cussing Woman
7:28 p.m.: A woman had been sitting on a bench and yelling obscenities since earlier in the morning at Downtown Mall, 17 S. School St.
Vehicle Burglaries
8:14 p.m.: Three vehicles were burglarized at First Baptist Church, 267 N. Mills Ave. Within an hour, one of the victims' credit cards had been used at a Chevron gas station.
Loiterers
8:18 p.m.: Fifteen to 20 drunken or drugged people were loitering in front of Main Hotel, 4 S. Main St.
Window Smasher
9:03 p.m.: After smashing a window at Moo Moo's, 113 N. School St., a boy walked east.
Graffiti
9:49 p.m.: Two blonde girls were possibly tagging Lakewood School, 1100 N. Ham Lane.
Trouble Brewing
9:59 p.m.: Ten people dressed in red were gathering, with sticks in their hands, in the 1400 block of South School Street.
Argument
11:32 p.m.: Two people were arguing and the man was trying to grab a baby out of the woman's arms at Orange Grove Apartments, 310 S. Orange Ave.
