Warriors boot Bruins
Ryan Magina and Cameron Guerrero each had a goal and an assist to lead Galt High's varsity boys soccer team to a 3-0 victory over visiting Ponderosa on Monday afternoon.
Diego Mena also scored for the Warriors (10-3-3, 3-1-1 Sierra Valley Conference) and goalkeeper J.J. Martinez had five saves.

Erin DeSnayer had seven kills and 12 digs for the Flames (7-2) in the 25-15, 23-25, 17-25, 21-25 loss to visiting Folsom. Kate Ehlers had 11 assists, Samantha Balentine had five kills, five blocks and two digs and Tori Shepard had three kills and four digs.

Betsy Colburn had four assists, two digs and seven aces to lead the Flames (6-1) to a 25-17, 25-10 victory. Melanie Greenwood had four assists, three digs and two aces, Jill Burkhard had five kills and Kendra Sanguinetti had three digs.

Megan McKay had four kills, two aces and eight digs to lead the Flames to a 25-20, 25-7 victory.

Galt placed third with a 512 at the first SVC Tournament at Lockeford Springs. Union Mine was first with a 469 and Oak Ridge followed with a 477. Riley Sexton led the Warriors with an 81 and was followed by Brittany Hamrick (98), Demarre Sexton (106), Alex Hohn (112), Willie Douglas (115) and Kaity Carpenter (117).

Tokay High
The Tigers went 1-4 at the elite America's Finest City Tournament in San Diego this past weekend. Tokay lost to La Jolla 15-5 and Santa Fe Christian 10-6 and then rebounded with its lone win, a 10-8 victory over Bonita. The Tigers closed out the tourney with a 10-8 loss against Rancho Bernardo and a 7-6 defeat against Mount Carmel.

The Tigers lost 11-6 against host Jesuit's freshman team.
Cole Mahoney scored twice for Tokay and Kevin Yates, Danny Kemether, Kyle Speare and Lucas Salisbury each scored once. Beau Lucas had five saves in the net. Tokay fell 12-8 against Jesuit's sophomore team. Kemether had seven goals, Salisbury had one and Lucas had four saves.

Academy
The newly formed Lodi Baseball Club is hosting its first Fall Baseball Academy every weekend in October. The academy, for boys ages 13-15, will be held on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sundays from 1 to 5 p.m. Academy instructors include Leon Lee, a former star in Japan and a former scout with the Chicago Cubs, and Ed Cervantes, a former professional player in Mexico and a minor leaguer in the U.S.

Valley Heat 16-U
The Valley Heat went undefeated and beat the California Grapettes 6-2 in the title game to win the Fun Fest Tournament this past weekend at Louis Park in Stockton. The Heat only allowed three runs behind the pitching of Gabby and Stephanie Magana. Other team members are Alyssa Magana, Kortney Solis, Maggie Macfarlane, Olivia Calderon, Shaina Kharufeh, Noel Montes, Briana Billups, Kym Rau, Daniela Ruiz, Amanda Mercado, Gina Luiz and Kristina Gossett.
Galt Illusion 10-U
The Illusion went 5-1 and defeated the Tri-County Smash 7-4 in the championship game of the Fun Fest Tournament this past weekend. The Illusion outscored opponents 52-17.
Players included Ashley Martin, Becca Cobb, Brittany Baroni, Gabbie Avila, Jenna Kniss, Jessica Scott, Kaylee Buhrkuhl, Korina Krueg, Rae Young, Shay Pearson, Taelor Ford, Taylor Sisk and Loren Perry.
Correction
The Lodi High varsity girls water polo team went 3-2 in the Woodcreek Tournament this past weekend in Roseville. Lodi High was incorrectly misidentified as Tokay High in Monday's News-Sentinel.
