Writer offers advice to Pastor Edwards

Regarding the recent News-Sentinel article in which local clergy discussed the issue of gay marriage: I found the viewpoints of various pastors diverse and introspective, offering informative insight.
I was, however, disappointed by the remark of Pastor Dale Edwards of Century Assembly. It is apparent that the issue triggered an emotional reaction, preventing him from offering the thoughtful, non-polarizing opinion one might expect from an individual with such an influential position.
If I might offer a suggestion: In the future, Pastor Edwards, instead of replying, "It will be a cold day in hell before I marry a homosexual couple," try, "We are all God's children, but my religious beliefs do not allow me to preside over the martial union of homosexual couples unless the temperature in hell drops to a more comfortable level. Unfortunately, the long-range forecast for hell remains hot — scorching hot."
