Why disparage McCain's military career?

Saturday, September 27, 2008 5:54 AM PDT

In regards to Heinz Lehrach's letter of Sept. 23: Wow. One can hardly imagine what lies behind a letter like Mr. Lehrach's. One can disagree with McCain's beliefs, positions or record on the issues, but why on earth would you disparage his military career?

Lehrach praises the farmer who "saved McCain from drowning" without mentioning that his "rescuers" then beat him and stabbed him as he lay there helpless with broken bones. McCain was then tortured over the course of years, while trying to live up to the best standards and traditions of the military and the American people.

Being a hero is not a prerequisite to being president, and one wonders why Lehrach feels the need to mislead and minimize McCain's difficult experience.

I hope there are some Obama supporters out there who will publicly join in calling Lehrach's letter what it is: the strange, pathetic rantings of the bitter fringe.

no ones perfect, and that's not the point. the point IS we judge, and we are SUPPOSED to judge. what you did with timothy wasn't wrong, what's wrong about your position is that it isn't biblically accurate, and that the reason you take that position is because you don't want the "wrestling match" that comes with the responsibility.

LET'S NOT ALSO FORGET that after having been broken by the North Vietnamese COMMUNISTS, McCain was so ashamed that he tried to commit suicide. His fellow inmates kept him fighting the good fight.

Mr. Lehrach's letter was a LAME attempt at trying to correlated the tearing down of John Kerry's many purple hearts (as part of the "Swiftboat campaign".

But anyone who knows ANYTHING about both KERRY and MCCAIN will tell you there is no comparison between the two.

One is a cardboard cutout of a military hero, while John McCain IS a military hero. "

Why do I not have 850??? Easy, while I do pay off all credit cards monthly ( I learned that from a friend 30 years ago) and all loans in less than 1/4 the time (sometimes sooner), I am guilty of choosing to "go play" over sitting down and paying bills.

You see, I am not "anal" about my score. Playing is more important to me than a perfect score.

A perfect example is this moment... I should be paying bills but I would rather blog. HA "

From the finance people I've known over the years, I doubt 1 in 100 are over an 800. It's just not that common due to the income/debt ratio necessary, coupled with the amount of outstanding credit vs. available credit. You just have to be boring and frugal, with a decent household income, like my wife and I. But, trust me, I do agree that a lot of people in this area fit that bill. "

All our borrowing is done through one bank and I am sure that makes a huge difference. But I also think, like you said, our credit score had a lot to do with the ease of getting the loan.

A good credit score is something to strive for, especially in today's economy. "

So while perfection is something you might strive for, the perfect credit score isn't really necessary." "

sam wrote on Sep 29, 2008 6:10 AM:

The site I am looking at now says it is achievable if
you do not max out credit cards, have long term credit relationships (20 years plus), and a credit history that goes back at least 30 years.

Pay your bills on time (one late payment and your perfect 850 is ruined for at least 7 years) and don't open too many revolving accounts (4 to 6 is the perfect number).

Also try avoiding court. Even one judgment can affect your credit rating, and that's not a good thing when you're working so hard to achieve the best. "

" Ah, Brian a RINO? More like a Socialist. I have money, you need it, therefore I am greedy because I will not "support " you?

-Chuckle, I am against government mandated health ins. However, I am not against government programs. There is a difference. McCain's plan to reform health ins. in the private sector is much better than universal government mandated health ins.

You can interpret my positions as double standards all you want. However, if you can find a way to exist without using the multitude of services the government provides for us than you are a magician. And if Obama gets elected and we do get universal health ins. you damn right I'll use it. But I'll also still criticize it because it's only a band-aid until we can find a real solution to providng health ins. without government intervention. "

And no Brian, I do not throw my money around. Maybe that is why I have some.

Ah, Brian a RINO? More like a Socialist. I have money, you need it, therefore I am greedy because I will not "support " you?

Get real. "

-Timothy, It was time I bought a house.
A home for my family is much more important than trying to make a quick buck. If I were to approach the housing market with the intention of making a quick buck I would have gotten into the market when it was still rising. Like I said, I don't give a rat's ass how much money you can throw around. So don't make me out to be the greedy person that you are. "

This article talks about the reason why McCain can't use a computer. And Biden confirms it.

I thought we were suppose to be compassionate about a person's war injuries. It seems to me Obama has selective compassion.

This article also talks about the zero experience Obama has in the executive branch of government. It also talks about the many years of experience Palin has in the executive branch. Just from this, it seems to me Obama is disqualified to be president because of his lack of experience in the executive branch. The liberal media is always pointing out things that disqualify Palin to be VP.

What's good for the goose... " "

" Ah, Brian, the RINO.

He attacks Obama in public but is looking for the government to give healthcare to his family (which he refuses to buy) and now he wants a BAIL OUT for a house he cannot afford.

He thought he could make a quick buck in the housing market, overspent on his house, and now does not like his investment so he wants the government to bail him out.

Calling the democratic candidate names does not make you a republican Brian. You are a RINO. "

" Brian, I have noted a number of those that I've surmised as Obama supporters, including Leonard, who condemned the verbal assaults on McCain's war record and patriotism. Obama supporters WE'RE sticking up for McCain. These two men really are great Americans, I don't see how anyone could doubt that. "

Kawaski glasses are the spectacles of choice for camp McCain. They are quite clear. This is an indication of the McCain/Palin positions. "

Leonard, Mr. Herrick wasn't referring to the posters on the blogg. In any event, you said ALMOST every Obama supporter condemened Lehrach's absurd contention. That means not every supporter did. But yet you contend
that only McCain supporters supported his statements. How can you know that only Mccain supporters supported his statements if not every Obama supporter didn't comment on his statements?

I always get a kick out of your slight of hand style of writing especially when you think no one notices it. "

Chuckle.... coming right after my post (see below) I can only speculate that you were making an attempt at irony. "
