Same ol' results for Lodi tennis team
Another season, another coach, another senior class, but the same ol' results for the Lodi High girls tennis team.
The Flames showed that they are once again the team to beat in the San Joaquin Athletic Association under first-year coach Dennis Sebastian, swatting Lincoln 5-0 in their league opener on Tuesday at Twin Arbors Athletic Club in Lodi.
The victory extended the Flames' SJAA winning streak to 138, with their last loss coming against the Trojans in October of 1998.
In Tuesday's singles play, Lodi's Millia Hinchman dropped the first set but rallied to beat Naomi Villapondi 5-7, 6-0, 6-3. Alison Simon knocked off Krista Rey 6-1, 6-2 and Anna Adams defeated Katie Jensen 6-2, 6-0.
In doubles action, Katie Weeks and Audrey Simon beat Alyssa Louie and Ashley Imeson 7-5, 6-3 and Jacque Lord and Anastasia Gonzalez defeated Leia Turner and Marie Caron 6-3, 6-0.

Galt's No. 1 singles player Christina Phillips was the only Tiger to record a win on Tuesday against Oak Ridge, as she defeated Sami Lee 6-4, 6-4. In the rest of singles play, Jana Hackett lost to Rachael Waugh 6-2, 6-1, Kasia Wilczek fell to Victoria Waugh 6-2, 6-3, Alexis Silvea lost to Jenna Yowell 6-2, 6-1, LeAnna Lucero was beat by Katrina Lund 6-1, 6-3 and Kourtney Smith lost to Jordaine McGunity 6-1, 6-1.

In doubles play, Meghan Lucero and Noelle Buckband fell 6-3, 6-1 to Grace Kim and Katlin Corell, Sarah Houghtaling and Devin Smith lost 6-3, 7-5 to Julia Lund and Julia Dunnigan and Courtney Wright and Corinne Madison lost to Taylor Clark and Lauren Costello 6-1, 6-2.

Lodi's only goal came from Jesse Yepez, who starred in the match. The goal was assisted by Matt Herzfeldt. In goal for the Flames, Jorge Diaz made 15 saves to keep Lodi (0-1-2) in the game.

Tokay 2, Lincoln 1
Hector Gomez scored the Tigers' first goal with an assisted by his brother Jose. The winning goal was scored Ammar Sublaban and assisted by Hugo Gonzalez. Tokay goalie Tim Rusher made six saves.
Julio Garcia and Greg Beckman played great games for the Tigers (2-2-1), who will host Tracy today.

Mauricio Cortes and Rigoberto Gomez each scored a goal and each recorded an assist as Tokay tied Lincoln on Tuesday. The Tigers (2-0-2) were also helped by standout games from Diego Ruiz, Nicholas Gonzalez, Rodrigo Gomez.

Marissa Hinchman shot a 1-over 39 to lead the Flames (6-0, 3-0 SJAA) at Woodbridge Country Club's Lake Course. Kercia Brakel shot a 41 and was followed by Sarah Boles (51), Danielle Aldrich (54) and Courtney Schmidt (61).

Alyssa Musto and Kasey Ota each shots 42s to lead the Tigers (3-1, 3-0 Tri-City Athletic League) over the Eagles at Lockeford Springs' par-36 course. Olivia Macdonald carded a 47 for Tokay, Katie Woznick hit a 48, Maggie McFarland posted a 57 and Devyn Michelotti shot a 57.

Riley Sexton shot a 47 to lead the Warriors (7-1, 2-1 Sierra Valley Conference) at Serrano Country Club in El Dorado Hills. Brittany Hamrick shot a 49 and was followed by Demarre Sexton (53), Willie Douglas and Alex Hohn (60) and Amber Garcia (62).

Dillon Smith netted four goals to lead the Flames over the Tigers. David Reher scored twice and Mitch Thomas, Dustin Domingo and Andrew Watts each scored once. Blake Montgomery had nine saves in the net.

Fall Academy
The newly formed Lodi Baseball Club will be holding its first annual Fall Baseball Academy, which will take place every weekend in October. The academy is for boys ages 13-15 and will be held at Kofu Park, 1145 S. Ham Lane. The instructors will be Leon Lee, a former star in the Japan League and former scout for the Chicago Cubs, and Ed Cervantes, a former MLB player and minor leaguer. The academy costs $250 per person. The Fall Baseball Academy will take place from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. on Saturdays and 1-5 p.m. on Sundays each weekend in October.

Lodi's Bradley wins
Lodi's Jayne Bradley cruised to a victory over the weekend in the stock eliminator division of the International Hot Boat Association's Bayfair race in San Diego.
Bradley won all four of her races, including the final where she hit speeds over 80 miles an hour and left runner-up Jason Darling in her wake.
Bradley is now atop the overall standings heading into the season-ending World Finals in Arizona on Nov. 20-23.
Bradley's son, Lester Bradley lost in his race at Bayfield by .137 seconds in the pro comp eliminator division.
