Theft suspect fails to show for hearing
One of the two people charged with possessing stolen items in a storage unit and possibly selling some of the items on eBay failed to show up for his preliminary hearing on Tuesday, according to Lodi police Officer Dale Eubanks.
Kristopher Maynard, 27, didn't show up, so San Joaquin County Superior Court Judge Bob McNatt issued a $25,000 warrant for his arrest, Eubanks said. Co-defendant Stephanie Hickok, 21, appeared in court Tuesday.
Maynard and Hickok are charged with stealing items such as golf clubs, personal handbags, engineering equipment, computers and tools. The items reportedly had been stolen since April from residents of Lodi, Woodbridge and north Stockton, Eubanks said.
Meanwhile, victims of the stolen property are invited to come to the police department, 215 W. Elm St., from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. today to check for what might be their property. People who think any of the items are theirs must prove that they reported the burglary to police, Eubanks said.
