Flames spike 'Jackets in straight sets

Addie Alegre had 16 assists, five digs and four aces to lead Lodi High's varsity volleyball team to a 25-19, 25-18, 25-19 victory at Franklin on Thursday night.

Samantha Balentine had seven kills and six blocks and Emily McConahey totaled six kills, 15 digs and two aces.

Heather Buzo had 28 assists, five kills, two blocks and 11 digs for the Tigers (6-0) in the 25-17, 25-23, 15-25, 25-28 victory.

Nicole Buzo had 13 kills, eight assists, two aces and 16 digs, Shannon Cowdell added 13 kills and 15 digs and Kelsey McCarty had 20 digs and three aces.

Lynice Schallberger had two kills and four blocks, Tori Nunez had seven kills, Emrin Dhatt had eight digs and three aces and Olympia Lopez added five aces.

Jill Burkhard had five kills and three blocks in Lodi's 25-23, 18-25, 10-15 loss to Elk Grove.

Melanie Greenwood had five kills, five assists and five digs, Amanda Barba had three kills and five digs and Nikki Luiz had 10 digs for the Flames (4-1).

Tokay 2, Chavez 0

Brooke Malcolm 13 aces and 12 digs and Amber Ali had four assists and four digs to lead the Tigers in the 28-26, 25-23 victory. Brittany Sweeten had 14 digs and Ashley Schatz added six digs.

Kelsey Gini had nine kills and nine digs to lead the Flames (4-1) in the 25-15, 23-25, 15-7 victory.

Whitney Boschee had seven digs and two aces, Megan McCay had seven kills and two blocks and Taylor Biiglow had 11 digs.

Tokay 2, Chavez 1

Arianna Brusa had five aces, two kills and four assists and Kayla Hernandez added two aces, two kills and four assists to lead the Tigers (2-2) in the 20-25, 28-26, 15-12 victory.

Vanessa De Santiago had six aces and Victoria Pinasco had three kills.

Sheldon 3, Tokay 2


Sheldon edged Tokay 3-2 on Thursday at Tokay. The Tigers' goal were scored by Jose Gomez (unassisted) and Hebert Timoco, with an assist by Hardeep Singh. Tokay goalie Tim Rusher made seven saves, while Greg Backman and Luiz Ordeaz both highlighted Tokay's effort. The Tigers are now 1-2-1 in the preseason.

Hector Flores had the only goal for the Tigers (2-0-1) on an assist from Mauricio Cortes.

Manuel Tinoco had six saves in the net and Nicholas Gonzalez and Roberto Gomez had outstanding games.

Katie Woznick shot a 49 to lead the Tigers (2-0, 2-1 Tri-City Athletic League) at Van Buskirk Golf Course. She was followed by Kasey Ota (50), Olivia Macdonald (54), Maggie McFarland (60), Devyn Michelotti (61) and Jenna Kenegawa (62).

Marissa Hinchman shot a 42 on Woodbridge Country Club's par-38 Lake Course on Thursday, leading the Flames (5-0 overall, 2-0 San Joaquin Athletic Association) past Bear Creek. Kercia Brakal followed with a 43, Courtney Schmidt hit a 58, Danielle Aldrich shot a 59 and Sarah Bowles carded a 63.

Galt 243, Vista del Lago 284

Hitting a one-over 37, Galt's Riley Sexton helped the Warriors defeat Vista del Lago on Thursday at Empire Ranch Golf Course in Folsom. Also scoring for Galt (7-0 overall, 2-0 Sierra Valley Conference), Brittany Hamrick and Willie Douglas shot 51s and Demrarre Sexton and Amber Garcia hit 52s. Alex Hohn also shot a 54.

Lodi 20, Tracy 44


Lodi's Alex Diehl raced to a first-place finish Thursday at the Caswell State Park in Ripon at the Flames' meet against Tracy. Diehl's time of 18:05 won the race by over a minute. He was followed by Muhammed Maskeen (second), Rory Panzarello (fourth) and Harbir Dhillon (fifth).

Jordan Rodriguez turned in a first-place finish in a time of 20:58. Lodi's next fastest finishers were: Margot Haswell (second), Hannah Weisner (fourth) and Emily Highsmith (fifth). Triathlon

TBF Triathlon

Local athlete Sophia Fuller, 11, won her age group at the TBF Triathlon at Rancho Seco Park last Saturday.

Sophia completed a 150-yard swim, four-mile bike ride and one-mile run to finish the race in first place with a time of 26 minutes, 38 seconds.

Previously this year Fuller won her age group at the All American Kids Triathlon in Stockton and she is also a state silver and bronze medalist for USA Cycling's NorCal State Championships.
