Accomplishment: In four matches, Tokay High senior volleyball player Heather Buzo shined for the Tigers. She totaled 111 assists, 28 kills, 16 aces, eight blocks and 49 digs as Tokay's setter.

Buzo's play helped the Tigers beat Chavez, Bear Creek, Lodi and Linden to start the 2008 season with a 4-0 record.

Family: Mother Pam, father Jim, two older brothers and one younger sister.

Favorite sport: Volleyball. Buzo also plays basketball and does track and field.

Favorite athlete: "Probably the most fun to watch are Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh, but I would have to say my favorite athlete is my mom."

Favorite hobbies: "I love to shop, I love to text and I love making people laugh and smile. I love planning events, like dances and fundraisers. That is what I hope to do when I get older, be an event planner."

Favorite subject: "This year I love being part of student government. I am the class president and I love organizing things and being in a leadership role and trying to make the school a better place."

Would like to meet: "I don't know. I have already met Misty May and Kerri Walsh so I don't know."

Crowning achievement: "Succeeding in classroom and on the volleyball court and getting where I have gotten."

Plans: "I think that would be fun to play in college. I play setter in high school but I hope to play Libero or defensive specialist in college. I want to major in business and then go on to be an event planner. My goal would be to go to school somewhere in Southern California. I definitely want to stay in California."

The Athlete of the Week is selected by the News-Sentinel sports staff. Nominations are gladly accepted. Buzo will receive a T-shirt courtesy of Lodi Sporting Goods for being selected.
