Flames ace McClatchy
Marissa Hinchman shot an even-par 38 to lead Lodi High's varsity girls golf team to a 240-264 victory over McClatchy on Thursday at Woodbridge Country Club's Lake Course.
Kercia Brakel carded a 41 for the Flames (3-0) and was followed by Danielle Aldrich (52), Courtney Schmidt (54) and Sarah Boles (55).

Galt 201, Florin 257
The Galt Warriors defeated Florin on Thursday in a shortened match at Forest Lake Golf Course. Due to a tournament following the contest, four Warriors played seven holes: Brittany Hamrick (41), Willie Douglas (42), Jodie Virtue (43) and Amber Garcia (44). Katie Carpenter and Kristen Fuery were only able to finish five holes, totaling scores of 34 and 41 respectively.
Galt is now 4-0 heading into Monday's Tracy West contest. The Warriors will begin league play on Wednesday.

Lodi 20, Sheldon 0
The Lodi High freshman football team picked up right where it left off from last year's championship, defeating Sheldon 20-0 on Thursday in its first game of the 2008 season.
Ian Gerrero led the Flames' offense with two touchdown runs of 4 and 10 yards. Josh Mastro scored another TD with a 20-yard dash. Jeffery Dickenson hit two PATs and also recorded a touchback.
On defense, Lodi forced five turnovers. Daniel Frazier had two fumble recoveries and eight tackles, Justin Toschi stripped the ball once and recovered it and led the team with nine tackles, Mastro forced another fumble and came up with the recovery while Gregory Herzfeldt recorded seven tackles.

Addie Alegre had 30 assists and three digs and the Flames (3-0) rallied to defeat host Manteca 26-28, 25-22, 25-19, 26-24.
Erin DeSnayer had 19 digs, 11 kills, five aces and Macy Boschee had 17 digs.

Betsy Colburn had three aces and four assists to lead the Flames (3-0) to a 25-21, 25-17 victory.
Jessica Malcolm had five kills and two aces, Kendra Sanguinetti had seven digs and Amanda Barba had two kills.

Kelsey Gini had 10 digs, seven kills and three aces to lead the Flames (2-1) to a 20-25, 25-10, 15-12 victory.
Megan McCay had five kills, two digs and four aces, Katie Bentz had six aces and three digs and Talyor Biglow added nine digs.

Alfredo Mejia and Jesus Gallo each scored for the Warriors (4-1-2) in the victory at Valley. Temo Rincon had an assist and keeper J.J. Martinez had four saves.
Galt won the Cherry Island Tournament last weekend.

SVC Meet
Galt High placed third in the SVC's first league meet on Wednesday at Serrano Country Club in El Dorado Hills. Galt's Arturo placed third with a time of 17 minutes, 16 seconds, and was followed by Josh Evans (5th), Matt Freitag (27th), Jason Coupe (28th) and Eddy Button (36th).
Galt's varsity girls placed second, led by Lauren Petersen's second-place finish with a time of 20:21. She was followed by Alison Motor (9th), Sam Walling (10th), Kelsea Tiapon (16th) and Sadie Stephenson (25th).
Galt's Austin Blake placed eighth in the frosh-soph boys race and Kayla Rodriguez was 19th in the frosh-soph girls meet.
Junior Football

Tokay Thunder 24, Rio Vista River City Raiders 6
The Tokay Thunder (2-1) defeated the Rio Vista River City Raiders 24-6. Gary Norwood had 115 yards rushing and two TDs and Gerardo Guiterriez rushed for 112 yards and two TDs. Linebacker Julian Schmidli led the team in tackles, with Norwood contributing an interception. Guiterriez recovered a fumble and Mark Delnero had two sacks.
Starts
Jacob Jordan ran for 190 years and three TDs and RaRa Garnes rushed for 60 yards and a TD in the Thunder's 24-12 victory over the Raiders.
Games, Brett Benzler, A.J. Knap, Caleb Baxter and Josh Krchner had solid games on defense.
Rookies
The Thunder defeated the Raiders 34-0. Cruz Gutierriez had 100 yards rushing and two TDs, Styles Schmidli had 60 yards and 2 TDs and Kyle Flemming added 36 yards and one TD. On defense, Dylan Crawford led the team with 14 tackles, Brandon Diede added eight and also had a sack and Chase Ramirez had seven tackles.
The JV squad defeated the Raiders 42-0.
