On the State Controller's Office reviewing San Joaquin Delta College's spending:

"A thorough investigation will lead to total transparency, which is the only thing that will salvage the reputation of the college district. If the investigation turns out to match the remarks of the grand jury, the Board will not have the luxury of denial any longer." — DeltaPenguin

"How many investigations are needed to prove that many of our local to federal government are just total unable to perform their assigned jobs? I have noticed how our politicians are great at expounding their views on their greatness." — buss owner

"Let's just cancel classes and turn the campus into a homeless shelter." — SportsGuru

On low Adequate Yearly Progress test scores in Galt:

"Galt High did not meet ANY of its (AYP) requirements. Last year it met only three. The Star Testing scores dropped in 75 of the 125 categories between 07/08 and even further from 06/08. Standing still is not progress; going backwards is not progress. Dump the board, fire the superintendent." — Pat Maple

"I agree with you. But you forgot the reason for high school. Most parents think their kids will soon be sports legends. The (physical education) teachers love this, to the detriment of the rest of the school. Sports are fine, go take a jog around the block, education is better! Did your family physician get a football scholarship to go to medical school? Do aerospace engineers or computer scientists win volleyball scholarships to attend college?" — edumacation

" Awhile back the editor of the Lodi News-Sentinel was lamenting over the possible demise of his beloved newspaper; actually going so far as to elicit recommendations from its readership as to how best to save it.

Here we have a classic example of just why this little newspaper is in trouble. The Internet provides a unique opportunity to get the news (and other pertinent information) to those interested in reading it in a more timely fashion than ever imagined by the guy who invented moveable type. But this electronic article is now over 12 days old. Someone is asleep at the wheel.

This particular "story" is displayed on the front-page of the Internet version of the newspaper itself. And anyone in the business is quick to realize, stale news is no news at all. In fact, it's bad news.

C'mon Marty and Rich! Wake up over there!! "
