Middle school students share science camp experience
Tech Trekkers Megan Butler and Christie Muresan, both of Lodi Middle
School, reported on their Tech Trek experience and thanked the Lodi
Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) for their scholarships to the Tech Trek math/science camp for girls.
They spoke at the AAUW Kick Off Brunch held Aug. 16, in the Sattlers' rose
garden. The girls lived in the Fresno State dorm and experienced a
taste of college life. They particpated in CSI science simulations,
helped with environmental planning on the San Joaquin River, attended
the John McCain speech on the environment and visited the Challenger
space capsule. Former Tech Trek girls, sponsored by Lodi Branch of the AAUW, are
now attending many colleges and majoring in math or science. Next
year, the Lodi branch's goal is to raise enough money to send three
girls to Tech Trek camp.
