Homeless outreach program schedules second ally cleanup
The second eastside alley cleanup by homeless volunteers is scheduled for July 12. Workers will meet at Lawrence Park at 9 a.m. for assignments. Ray Jarmillo, owner of Pride Landscape and Concrete Company, will supervise the effort, and will also furnish his company trucks and drivers. Thanks to the effort by George Bradley, Lodi street superintendent, Waste Management Company has donated free dump passes.
At noon, workers will meet for a party at Hale Park. Cheryl Francis and Madeline Libordi will serve lunch, and Mark Davis has arranged for music by musicians from several Lodi churches.
Free copies of our first newsletter will be distributed to those in attendance.
A table of "thank you" gifts for homeless cleanup workers will be manned by Gary Kellam, Doug Chaney, and Dan Peters. Churches and individuals are using chlorine bleach to disinfect personal care items and donating them. Supplies such as
t-shirts, socks, hair brushes, combs, wash cloths, soap, chap sticks, razors, aftershave, nail clippers and other grooming items are hot items. Feminine hygiene products are urgently needed. To help prevent diseases, Aaron Deverenzi of San Joaquin County mosquito control, has donated 1,000 mosquito repellant wipes for those who must sleep outdoors.

Our motto was written by Edmund Burke sometime around 1778, "All that is necessary for the forces of evil to take over the world is for enough good men (and women) to do nothing."
